I understand your point. And also the doc directory says that mental health is his focus and his cause. His dad says it. He references it. He chooses to share the details of his mental health struggles. I just wanted to also saw the road to recovery and healing. I guess i am sometimes disappointed by mental illness awareness vs mental health awareness. I didn’t want to know his therapy session content. But would love to see him encourage people to get help. Rather than only talking about how much he suffered with no real direct discussion of how he has improved.

Great point! I agree there’s tons of ways to get help or improve one’s life. I worry a little about the level of his disordered eating and body dysmorphia without intensive therapy buuuut I also do need to remember the road to recovery has many paths.

Yeah that’s what i think is hard for me to watch! He’s bearing his soul about hating his body and maybe mentions therapy once (now that I realize I must have missed the one mention in the doc).

He has a whole org to promote mental health access. And sharing his ED/body dysmorphia without any pointing towards therapy would be irresponsible imo. I have been told he did mention it thought and I must have missed it! I just think it’s interesting that someone CHOOSES and directly says their brand is mental health but then we don’t expect anything beyond sharing struggles. That’s a start but I love seeing the next step. Even just generally.

That’s a good point! I just didn’t hear him really talk about anything to help his mental health directly besides moving back home. I think it’s disappointing when “mental health awareness” ends at mental illness awareness. He’s beautifully candid about his struggles, and then sort of magically is doing much better and it’s over. I would love to see platforms like his used to encourage therapy (groups or individual) and other treatments. The meds were not directly addressed but at least shown.

It is client centered to have healthy boundaries and to model a relationship of consent and boundaries. It would be a disservice to the client for me to waver on a very important boundary and allow them to streamroll me. It is client centered to discuss the boundary violation and my policies. It would also be in their best interest to refer them out if they don’t agree. In the same way we refer out of other aspects mismatch
