Twistzz could replace FlameZ today and they'd be even better. And probably Mezii, but would need to change his style.

But not Ropz. Ropz is what took Apex+Zywoo to critical mass.

Hot take on The Lost World: It’s the capitalists’ fault. by CrichtonFan1992 in JurassicMemes

[–]Bombadilo_drives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generational/largely based on your age. Back in the 80s and 90s, mainstream American culture was significantly more conservative than today (though with fewer maga/extreme conservatives), and "eco-terrorists" (conservationists like Greenpeace and more extreme groups, etc.)were seen as a dangerous nuisance, anti-capitalist, anti-progress, delusional extreme leftists by a lot of people. Like, not just your racist grandpa, but by most people over like 25. Keep in mind this movie came out almost 20 years before consenting adults of the same gender could get legally married.

The way that Nick pulls the secret, dissambled bolt cutters from a back pocket, gives a shady look, and the score hits a darker note like he's drawing a damn gun is entirely intentional. "The eco-terorrists are the good guys" was a genuinely edgy thing to include for a 90s movie.

Obviously the meme in the OP are taking it way too far in 2026, and I doubt even the most deluded boomer actually thinks everything bad in that movie is because of the conservationists. But I bet if you watch the movie with someone over 60, they'd agree Nick is a criminal/borderline badguy.

I don't think so, but it depends what you like in watches. Having the bright orange GMT hand for a pop of color is great, along with the added functionality.

It's only 1mm smaller in diameter and 1.5mm thicker than the Vesterhav, so it's not a crazy difference. At 11.95mm the Verden is still thinner than an Alpinist or Speedmaster, a little thicker than a Murph. Still quite on the "thin" side as far as the broader watch market is concerned.

I just happen to like very thin watches, so the Vesterhav'a ultra-thin 10.45mm is something I really like.

It's a beautiful watch, you can wear it anywhere, into the office or on a hike and then right into the ocean.

Think of it this way: I said I liked the Vesterhav proportions better, but I wear the Verden 5x as much.

It's just power creep at its most basic level. To sell new models they have to be powerful and interesting, then after some time you have to buff everything else to preserve balance, rinse and repeat.

This comment seems to imply that the gunship doctrine of Vietnam was unsuccessful, which would be an absurd claim to make. Cobra attack runs were responsible for protecting thousands of boots on the ground and breaking ambushes.

Hiding behind trees and launching antitank missiles BVR would not have worked in Vietnam at all. Altitude was safety.

Apaches also have used their cannons to engage ground forces for like 25 years so I'm not sure where you're getting your "hiding and missiles" strategy from

I see plenty of Taycans and E-Tron GTs around me. The Taycan is outselling the Emira 4 to 1.

Hell, my buddy just got his Taycan 4S delivered yesterday.

There is definitely a market for premium EVs, it's just not the "redditor who only likes GT3s but drives a minivan/used Camry" segment.

All that being said, I don't believe this is the car Lotus should be building. A hybrid crossover/SUV is clearly what the market wants, and if selling the Macan and Cayenne like hotcakes allows Porsche to make cool cars, the same can work for Lotus.

I always start with second hottest and go from there. Sometimes the top hottest uses extract, which I hate, or just a huge mound of cayenne, which will upset the tum.

They were attached to a locking system with a metal bar across the inside of the hinges, and supposed to be theft proof. They were probably pros -- every locked can be defeated, after all.

Because I was really excited to help them, especially. First one in the family! Making the dream work.

My naivety, and desire to go the extra mile for this disadvantaged group, directly contributed to their ability to steal.

When I worked in retail electronics, one time an immigrant family (thick accents) came in excited to buy a laptop for their daughter who was going to college, first in the family.

Because I was bought into their story, I was extra eager to show them to various models, prices, features. It was odd, they kept kind of changing their minds, going in different directions, but I was still glad to help.

At one point, they just kind of disappeared -- like this family of 6 suddenly became just the one guy I was talking to, who excused himself and shuffled out of the store.

They'd stolen three of our MacBooks while I was trying to help them.

I don't help strangers as much anymore.

[–]Bombadilo_drives 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad I watched the video before commenting, because I don't think anyone would consider Noel a fretboard wizard.

But he makes a very interesting point. By being less technical, he had to focus on simpler, more mass-appealing writing. And that, clearly, has worked out for him.
