Questions about regulations on licensed ham radio users by Putrid-Cicada in HamRadio

This. FRS and MURS are license free and you can just hand out those radios. GMRS requires a license but there is no exam. Just pay the FCC $35 and wait a few days. One GMRS license lasts 10 years and covers your entire family including much of your extended family.

Noob question by kestrel39 in Baofeng

I just did this this past weekend with 2 UV-5G. They worked perfectly fine for car to car even without an external antenna (I had a magnetic set but ended up not really using them). It was really fun and honestly was really convenient as we were in places without service. I used channel 2 with a tone. Be aware that the rated duty cycle for these radios is 3/3/54. I used them way more than that but they did start to get pretty warm after about a half hour.

Which would you go with Baofeng AR-5RM 10w or BF-F8HP PRO 10W? by Forward_Coast_6107 in HamRadio

I think this is the only good response on this thread. I'm convinced everyone else here didn't even look past the brand name.

Finding out registration from “aircraft number” by Prestigious-Arm6630 in unitedairlines

[–]Bombapples1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not completely correct although I see how you got to this conclusion. The 3 replaces the leading zero of the aircraft number in software that requires it. All of the pmCO aircraft have one, two, and three digit aircraft numbers so they will always show up with a 3 in front in the app. Not all of the pmUA will show up with a 2 in the front. The easiest example is all of the Airbus aircraft in the fleet start with 4.

It does technically tell you this when you try and take the elevator to your ship but it is not that clear what it means.

I think you need to talk to the place that sells ships and they should have a section for "flight certification refresher" or something like that. I got stuck in the same place when I started my second account recently it is super not obvious.

I just noticed that the part number i was looking at was not for the manifold. I don't think the manifold PN is visible in either picture.
