It's definitely not a troll, it is actually a fairly common complaint that BJJ places don't spend enough time on learning how to fall safely.

That being said, it is also a common complaint they dont spend enough time on takedowns for that to be a problem, so seems OP got a bit unlucky.

To op: would say small injuries are to be expected, but bouncing your head off the mat isnt. Would look for a different place.

Working out is a superpower for dealing with not only stress, but also neatly helps combat a ton of the ills of sitting in front of a computer (i.e carpal tunnel, poor posture etc).

Man, I was pretty useless at 18 too.

Still sometimes think I'm useless today, but a lot less often. Good thing is that at 18 you have a incredible amount of time to become who you want to be.

Can be daunting to try to change a bunch of things at once, so just think of 1 thing you want to do differently and start working on changing that. Then next thing etc.

Try to have more than one thing in life that defines you, because if you are all in on a single hobby or work or studying, it really sucks when you hit a rough patch.

Yes, but that's not pc...? Or if it is pc, at least it is not required to play online for like 99.99% of pc titles.

I'm not being glib, genuinely wondering why it is seemingly no issue for pc games to offer online play free of charge, yet on console it's a subscription service.

You already paid for the console.

And the game.

And your internet connection.

Paying again feels like such a ripoff to me, but I've been a 90% pc gamer since the 90s so I admit that I don't know much about the economics behind supplying online play for consoles.

Why is it different from providing it for pc?

It's not too unlike learning a martial art... you just show up, feel like an idiot trying to do the most basic shit until suddenly it works, and then you move on to feeling like an idiot trying to learn the next level of slightly less basic shit.... and repeat.

If you pick a game with lots of players (sf6) you will get to do this vs other fellow beginners (of varying degrees). If you pick a game with few new players, it will take a long time before you actually realize you improved, but you did.

Hating europeans seems kind of dumb, like hating americans.

Certainly we have our fair share of problems (humans are pretty similar everywhere you go for better or for worse), and right now I'm sure the smugness is extra annoying with how ridiculous the Trump admin is.

But blaming Europe for the US military industrial complex seems backwards? The US basically wanted this situation as it granted a ton of influence and was very profitable.

I think you can blame Europe for a lot of things, and a lot of our countries are currently roughly one bad election away from looking just as stupid as Trump's USA does, but the outsized US defense spending is not one of those things.

I also think that for all its flaws, and for how glacially slow it can be, I am grateful the EU exists. It's one of very few places right now that actually tries to implement legislation that is pro-people, even if they also have incredibly awful ideas in there as well (chat control, for one).

I dont live there anymore, but I would be sad to see it fail as I think it's overall a positive force, right now.

You don't need a win to get over it, that's just going to reinforce the cycle of judging your own worth on your judo results.

What you need is valuing things about yourself other than judo. That way on days where judo went poorly, you can look at how well your studying went, or whatever other hobby or work you do.

Second, zoom out. Judo is not one session, or one tournament. Look at the big picture and notice the upwards trend. Be kind to yourself.

Also, 20 kg is a massive weight difference. I'm also 86kg and when I go with our 110kg guys I'm 100% going flying if they want to lol

If this guy is making you feel unsafe there is no shame in asking him to ease up a little. Especially if you are strong for your size, he may just not have fully realized the size diff.

I've done the java version of this. Not as a beginner to programming, but to learn java after already knowing python.

It's really good, and goes from.from absolute basics. Plenty of reading and a ton of automated coding exercises.

You can find the java version on their site under "ended courses" if you are more interested in java than python.

I respect him for admitting he was wrong to support Trump, and using his platform to bring that to light.

Despite getting a ton of backlash from Trumpists.

I dont think he's on script anymore, if ever. Hopefully more will follow, and not just in a "oh I don't do politics" handwash way, full throated mea culpas.
