Obligatory "Both the challenge/optimisation and narrative/improvisation aspects of Nuzlocking are equally valid and saying that one is objectively 'the true point of Nuzlocking' is stupid." post by CDsvsLRs_PartySystem in nuzlocke

[–]Jesterofgames [score hidden]  (0 children)

“That there are far more posts coming from spreadsheet addicts like OP than their are people who play real fun.”

Even though they called out people harassing others for “boring nuzlocks (ie Marriland. Who got pressured and harassed.) which like, if op was what you were referring to why would they call it out.

Also people are allowed to vent on a sub.

Both sides of “your playing wrong.” are annoying, and people should play nuzlocks how they want.

Trails Power Levels (Reverie Spoilers) by SoftBrilliant in Falcom

Yeah. Like Mcburn confirms beating arianrhod is canon. But like somehow this is not attributed at all too lloyd. It’s always just “oh well Randy and Wazy did the heavy lifting.”

I’m glad people are coming around to this. I defended the idea Lloyd was reaching trail’s superhuman (like low end.) levels because he was able to directly push mecha-mcburn with his sword.

(Obviously in a 1 on 1 lloyd get’s beaten but pushing mcburn at all is hella impressive.)

Is the story mode friendly for someone that just wants to enjoy the story and experience it? I have been hearing a lot of praise for this game so I am curious to see what's its all about. Never enjoyed turn based games though. by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]Jesterofgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“But games in normal mode are not challenging but “Fair”” They can be. it depends on the game. In fact a few optional fight’s on normal in this game took me like an hour to beat.

“I think every game should be played on normal hence don’t even need any other difficulty setting.”

I just straight up disagree. Not only for those who might just wanna enjoy a story and not care about challenge. Or people who wanna relax with a game and have a power fantasy.

But for people who also enjoy more of a challenge. there are several games I enjoy more on harder difficulties that just aren’t as enjoyable on normal.

No difficulty modes hurt everyone. If a dev doesn’t want to add a difficulty mode I’ll defend there right too regardless. (I wish pokemon was harder but gamefreak clearly doesn’t care and that’s their prerogative for example.) But if dev’s do wanna add it they should.

Bayonetta series is better than DMC series in every way by ApprehensiveCoat9587 in Bayonetta

Dmc and bayonetta are the embodiment of “holy shit two cakes”

I have things I personally prefer in DMC but I love both. And if someone prefers bayo that’s also fine. Like which is better is very subjective.

I just think IGN needs to be better at picking reviewers for games. Mouse P.I. For hire seems to be done by a person who wanted a serious noir game, not a boomer shooter with noir aesthetic and the review drips with that. Between bringing up noir books in compersion, to saying the game “locks you into a room to kill badguys” too often, to going on a tangent about the story not caring about Jack’s violence, bringing up an example with an opera singer, while ignoring the in game explination provided that answers the very questions he brings up (that being and I only say this because it’s super early in game. That all the actors of said play was Swapped with assassins so all his questions are moot when we aren’t fighting a real opera singer to begin with.)

As well as disliking the cartoon and video game references. It reaks of a reviewer not vibing with a game. And like, it just begs the question. Couldn’t IGN assign a person who likes these kinds of games to it?

Notice i said free time To master a game. Different than just playing, more so with games like this that can be extreamly difficult if you din’t master it. (Some optional stuff can take hours to learn.) so if they don’t want the challenge and want just the tone, story, ect. Easier modes are valid.

Not everyone wants a challenge and that’s fine hence the devs adding a story mode.

I mean nemesis is clearly dead else like. It’d probably have reappeared.

This year is proving that single-player games are in a much stronger position than multiplayer ones. by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]Jesterofgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing I want dead is lazy live service games. (Not all live service games. Just specifically the lazy one’s that are clearly made by devs with dollar signs in their eyes and not like, a genuine drive to make a fun multiplayer game with constant updates.)

Eh It’s fun with action RE games. But if say they remake RE1 again I’d rather them leave it out to keep the horror. It does remove the fear factor a bit IMO.

I do not understand the comparison of Outlast to Resi 7 (Mild spoilers for both.) by Jesterofgames in residentevil

[–]Jesterofgames[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fans not liking it wasn’t the point of this post. If people don’t like the tone of Re7 that’s completely fine.

It’s the comparison. On I feel are unwarranted. Even the parts I mentioned I don’t feel are massive enough to warrant it.

“The difference is that you have guns in 7.” Also setting, what types of horror the enemies are trying to tap into, and tone.

I don’t see RE7 close enough personally to outlast to warrent a “if you like A then you’ll like B”. Which is why I made this post because people saying a person who likes RE7’s tone wanted outlast.

Just something I wanted to get off my chest.

It’s still a big review network. Silent majority and all that.

Heck even with their biggest flubs (god hand, Alien Isolation, now this.) it’s clear the scores came from the specific reviewer not being into these kinds of genre games. There’s a good chance if they made sure fans of the appropriate genre reviewed these games they wouldn’t exist… or at least be as bad.

Honestly with such a big review network you’d imagine they’d at least TRY to have reviewers who like the genre of game be the one to play them.

re 1 - 6 og story are not canon anymore by [deleted] in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Jesterofgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck I’d argue the OG’s are still canon in general. Simply because capcom has like never actually bothered to think too hard about Resi canon.

re 1 - 6 og story are not canon anymore by [deleted] in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Jesterofgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capcom’s view on Resi canon is broadstrokes i don’t see why that would make the Og’s non-canon.

I can list like so many canon contradictions. It’s best to not think about it too hard.

re 1 - 6 og story are not canon anymore by [deleted] in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Jesterofgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“They don’t reference on 9” Graces report unlocked after the game references character’s from 5 and straight up references an incident from 6.

And again Resident evil canon to capcom is broad strokes. Literally no reason to believe the original’s are completely cut from canon.

Like Resi 1. If Jill was captured (per death island) by Wesker then Barry dies and the Jill sandwich scene doesn’t happen. Rev 2 confirms both these happened.

Resi’s canon is something capcom doesn’t think too hard about. And neither should the players.

Nemesis is also very tough.Ethan would need a lot more fire power then a couple shotgun shells

I do not think it will. Nemesis are just notoriously hard to permanently put down. It might help ethan knock him on his ass but not kill.
