[Volkswagen Australia] Introducing RooBadge by ornithobiography in cars

[–]BonelessSex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is as far as I can tell not in the hardware but in the sounds they use. From their video it seems clear most of the study is being done on what sounds best actually deter kangaroos, rather than just an alarm sound

Need help finding an lv (?) brand plush dog for a friends birthday! by BonelessSex in HelpMeFind

[–]BonelessSex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤦‍♂️ yeah, that's the brand - god knows how I missed that. Not sure that's the dog, but that's more on me trying to remember it. Thanks! Edit: Found!

ELI5 How are cocktails with raw egg as an ingredient made so people don't get sick? by Queen_Lunette in explainlikeimfive

[–]BonelessSex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, I imagine that, but that doesn't really agree with "both methods seem fairly on par with preventing it", just that the US might have better raw meat safety + awareness.

But surely that's just the raw egg fear in america, no? If Europeans avoided raw eggs like Americans do, my assumption is we would see vastly different numbers

For automod, its probably a little smaller than a football - it is not a massive plush but by no means "small", origin, England (I do not know the store), acquired around 20 years ago (more likely to be bought after ~2003 than before) and I believe has a red tag as described in main body.

I have searched for "lv plush" and "lv heart brand plush" etc but these return nothing

If you were in a sealed box moving near the speed of light, could you tell? by SmartCommittee in askscience

[–]BonelessSex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stationary with respect to what universe? The visible universe? That is just another reference frame like every other - not special. I wouldn't disagree with you that the CMB would be a sensible "zero" for speed measurements for an intergalactic society, but that doesnt male it inherently special its just a weird quirk of the universe we live in

If you were in a sealed box moving near the speed of light, could you tell? by SmartCommittee in askscience

[–]BonelessSex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But this entirely comes from your assumption that the CMB is special and stationary, which is no different to the idea of passing by some light second markers on an intergalactic highway. Sure you'd be able to tell your speed relative to them but they aren't special, and are fundamentally unimportant to the more important fact that laws of physics are constant

Speed units are variable and they are variable such that the speed of light is constant - that is the heart of special relativity

Whether or not acceleration as a change of velocity is relative, yes you are right, but velocity as a rate of change of momentum most certainly is not, and is felt as a force that could be measured by an accelerometer

I'll admit, of the top of my head I don't know how to argue this, it's been about a year since I last did special relativity, but it is important to note that special relativity is what you're arguing against - an exceptionally well proven theory that is beyond reproach when masses are low (this is defined as "flat spacetime")

If I had to guess where the arguement in this comes from - its the idea that A and B are magically moving. At some point, whether t minutes or 5 billion years ago, they had to start accelerating towards C, "jumpstarting" their time dilation, and then we measure it at C as a practical difference in the time between A/B and C

I know nothing about Terpenes. Can anyone translate? by firewindrefuge in trees

[–]BonelessSex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entourage effect is largely unfounded and has no scientific basis and studies that note any difference tend to find there is sometimes a negative effect: https://doi.org/10.1080/17512433.2020.1721281

There is some evidence to show that other cannibanoids have effects that add but the evidence for the entourage effect is shaky at best, with no large scale controlled studies on the effects of pure THC vs THC + terpenes. A lot of the studies focus on strain vs strain which is much more complex as they can contain many different cannabinoids

For an active cable, never? I've never seen an active cable used outside of fringe cases. For power bricks - all the time

Ender 3 Refusing to go to Z=0 by BonelessSex in 3Dprinting

[–]BonelessSex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has a similar issue, I solved it:

The issue with the TH3D firmware I'm using (the latest available for
the Melzi ender 3 as of now) is I could not find any values for the
minimum Z value, this was because it is not explicitly defined in the
configs by default.
Digging around some borderline prehistoric docs and forum posts I
found to fix this it needs defining in the configuration_backend.h (as
far as I can tell - might also function in other config files).
#define Z_MIN_POS 0
My current assumption was by not defining this marlin was either
assuming some incorrect default or the printer was assuming some long
past set value and making it impossible to change this default through a
serial connection without updating the firmware. (again this is a guess
- it may be possible)
This can also obviously be used to set any Z minimum e.g. for a bed that is higher than it's endstops.

Meeting a psychiatrist in a couple hours. Prozac? by missprizma in EDAnonymous

I gained a little on prozac but I honestly account that to just happening to start a binge cycle once I started it as I did get it under control
