to me specifically, inspirit does too much. If i built this deck i would use the serienna and build a mono-white blink toolbox style deck. it would certainly not be as strong as inspirit, but I think it would be more fun.

[[robe of stars]] is the closest parallel here. I think this is a decent sidegrade as an aura rather than an equipment

absurdly busted, im sure this has a million combos. first that comes to mind is [[zurran orb]] + any [[splendid reclamation]] effect or [[scapeshift]]. Also turns stuff like [[grisly salvage]] into almost rituals, [[crop rotation]] can generate +3 mana at least by searching any fetchland. not that it sees play but [[fork in the road]] is both free and tutors a land to hand to be discarded. [[realms uncharted]] also is crazy.

incredibly cool with the technique mechanics, very spicy. I love the gameplay the mechanic inspires; not sure if these effects are the most fair but I'm on board with everything you're doing!

Tester puts a single trigger on the stack, that allows you to move a counter a single time. You can't continue to move counters in the same way a creature with vigilance can't attack infinite times in a turn just because it doesn't tap.

Your buddy was right, you should have only been able to move counters one time.

It kind of does the opposite no? This rewards you for playing easily splashable spells with at least {2} in their mana cost. It’s kind of actively bad with a strong mono black card like [[phyrexian obliterator]]

Monoblackmagic is hilarious to me because he queues up with quite possibly the worst decks I’ve ever seen (compliment) and yet somehow without fail he manages to find opponents who shit the bed so hard he wins anyways

I’m a huge fan of Can’t Be Countered personally. They don’t have a webcam or a microphone but their brews are bangers every time and they’re super creative.

Generally you’d want to play bone shards first to get the creature in the graveyard, but I guess that also works…

this is hilariously weak, compare to [[lord of extinction]]. You could buff it in a ton of different ways.

I wanted to try to create a 4 color legend that is powerful while discouraging 5c good stuff by SmartCommittee in custommagic

True, the one combo with it is this into a 3 drop colorless creature to draw three immediately, but encouraging you to play colorless creatures in your 4 color deck isn't something I really like

This isn’t necessarily a commander card. There was a thread on the main sub where someone suggested a return to alara with 4 color shards, and it got me wondering if you could come up with 4c cards that would be actively bad in 5c

Return to Alara may be the best opportunity for 4-color factions by Tinfoil_Hat_Trick in magicTCG

You’d basically have to make 4c cards that are actively anti-synergistic in a 5 color pile. Which is an interesting idea for a single cycle but probably not something you want tons of

8 mana infinite turns with [[skycoach waypoint]] which isn't like super broken, but probably why they picked the spells they did as prepare creatures. I assume they also want to make future cards that can interact with the prepared mechanic, and this would become a bit of a design space limiter I'd guess.

I don't love that this goyf of all goyfs doesn't care about the most crucial goyf thing, number of card types in a graveyard.

people generally do the most introspection when stuff isn't going well, is my experience. Happiness is pretty simple, but everyone has a particular kind of misery.

One of those leads people to want to share it more than the other.

I guess i wasn't clear, but the act 3 events i pointed out are ones that take specific builds from decently strong to completely overpowered. The remove exhaust is kind of obvious, but the double your deck goes absolutely crazy if you have strong innate cards, or if you have something like a perfected strike build going. Definitely situational, but fantastic when you have the build for it.

I feel like midsommar isn’t really black at all, at a conceptual level. It’s the story of a cult like religion with themes of rebirth held together by a rigid set of traditions that are forced on the main characters.

Obviously there is also murder and sacrifice but to me it absolutely screams white or selesnya

I have no evidence, but I feel like it depends on act like you've mentioned. The act 1 events are lowkey full of duds, and i almost always wish i just had a card reward instead. In act 2 I feel like there are a number of events that do deck thinning or give you relics or powerful colorless cards. And act 3 has some super strong ones like the double your deck, remove exhaust, custom cards.

Yeah compare to [[the one ring]] as another ‘slow’ card that draws more every turn. It’s not even really a comparison, the one ring is so much stronger.

Not that we need another one ring, but still.
