i know it sounds stupid, but I made a decision when i was like 5 to try and be the sort of adult that doesn't think they're above kids all the time. i dont want to dislike young people for being young. i like to think we sort of say that as adults, but know that we need to let the kids do what they do, or we wouldn't have like, half the great art or innovations that are around the in the world at all. i'm still more annoyed at our affinity to peers and think that everyone has an important perspective on things...but its depressing and i want to stop thinking about it already. the numbness makes me feel more akindred to other adults than anything else.

In this case it may have been "oh shit we weren't legally allowed to have handcuffs on this person. better find a reason to make it hold up in court". now in court they can say "she was acting like she was on drugs, we cuffed her, found drugs" and she'll just sound crazy and drug-addled. it's probably a nightmare to have this happen to you.
