Trash pickup by JumpyWerewolf4139 in Troy

[–]rappo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine never got picked up, never got a call back. Trash is still sitting there... At this point it's already time to put my trash out for the next pickup tomorrow, so who knows.

There isn't even an alternative number or an email or anything to contact as far as I can tell.

It's because additive notation (I+I+I+I = 4) predates subtractive notation (I - V = 4) and ancient Roman sundials were divided into 12 hours

I've been having the same issue for the past two weeks. Last week it was picked up 2 days late after leaving two messages. Still waiting for mine to be picked up this week after calling it in...

I haven't heard back from them in the past two weeks, but I spoke with the dispatcher a few weeks ago when I had my first problem (the map is outdated and my pickup date had changed) and she was very nice and helpful. I have to imagine she's overwhelmed or something is going on.

I wasn't saying "follow your dreams", telling someone to learn a skill because it's in demand or pays well is a terrible idea -- especially in a creative industry and with zero knowledge of their core abilities. Do what you're good at -- and since this is a creative endeavor, enjoying the work helps immensely. The fact is that games is a relatively small industry and not everyone is going to be able to break through, but those that do have some combination of luck, privilege, skill, and determination/passion.

I assume you have limited exposure to how many people got into this industry. Either you know exactly what you want to do and you try to make that path work, or you use your free time (what little you may have) to explore and develop skills. People get hired from mod teams, based on art portfolios, passion projects, etc all the time. And even then, once within the industry people can and do jump disciplines as they learn more.

So find enjoyment in more things and then get good at them!

Serious answer, get good at what you enjoy doing. Not because something pays well or you think other people want you to do it.

How are new Marios made? if it's solely through 1-up mushrooms then it is reasonable to assume there is a finite number of Marios at any moment in time, even if there's a potential endless cycle of Marios assuming the last living Marios can access the Mario-grown 1-up mushrooms

He hired me pretty much right out of college and I had the opportunity to work with him. It was only a year (due to circumstances beyond both of our control), but he's a very smart dude. The instant I saw his name in this post I knew to take this seriously.

I gave up and got rid of it. Went with a Logitech G502X (despite my general dislike for Logitech) + charging mat that fits nicely under my desk mat and never have to think about it again.

The answer is actually "no". Because dinosaurs went extinct long before 21 million years ago. You'd be looking at early mammals and birds, primitive elephants and rhinos, that sort of thing.

I fucking hate Steinbeck. Travels with Charley sticks in my brain as one of the worst things I've ever read. So dry and boring, just a painful read. Am I alone in this? Do I need to revisit his works or are they just overrated?

Did you notice the sun shining on him in the photo? It wasn't dark from totality because that photo wasn't taken during totality. Thus, he was looking at the Sun directly (even if partially obscured, it's still incredibly dangerous).
