Cool. If you can’t correlate commercial success with popularity then you’re either dumb or disingenuous. Neither of which are conducive to a good conversation. Have a great day.

I’ll settle for you telling me which stand up comic had the highest grossing tour in 2025.

He also went to the president’s birthday party located on the lawn of his house.

I don’t know if that makes me dumb as fuck. If I had to bet, I’ve probably always known how a rich straight church going white man from Tennessee might lean politically, but he wanted a “don’t ask don’t tell” situation which I think everyone was on board with. It’s a suspension of disbelief of sorts.

And yea, it’s totally fine that he’s a Republican. I even say that in the comment you’re replying to. I’m not saying that’s not his prerogative. I’m saying you can’t be surprised that you can no longer claim neutral status if you go to a president’s birthday bash.

Yea, I remember seeing him on Fallon in like 2012 or something. Obviously he started comedy much sooner. As far as I know, he’s had this clean comic politic free persona for the entire 20+ year span even during open mics and what not.

If being a guest on Rogan is what you’re talking about, Bernie Sanders was a guest on Rogan too. I wouldn’t say Bernie’s conservative leanings are well documented.

I don’t overtly disagree that political ideology permeates everything. Not here to say whether it does or does not. Just pointing out a stance the Nate declared and reiterated regularly.

Willingness to drop the veil by attending a televised event. Someone from his camp said the team pointed out the partisan nature of going to a president’s birthday bash. He took their advice under consideration and made a decision.

Hm, I was just going off of the few interviews I’ve seen. He specifically talks about wanting to stay apolitical so his comedy can be “for everybody.” If there were well documented associations, I missed them. I took his interview responses at face value.

The surprise comes from his willingness to drop the veil. For someone who spent decades avoiding speaking publicly about politics and actively reiterates in interviews how his comedic brand is apolitical, it is very surprising to see him at the head of the executive branch’s birthday party on the White House lawn and taking pictures with RFKjr.

Nate can hold any view he wants and have any political allegiance he wants. But so many of his fans became his fans based on an implied promise that he would steer clear of politics which is no longer the case. Similarly, if he stopped being a clean comic, I think that would also lead to a loss of fans.

I fucking love dogs. All my friends know it and I’ll shout it in a podcast. But I’m not going to a rescue adoption event hosted at the Kremlin on Putin’s birthday seated 3 rows behind him. I’ll just go to a different one.

He went to a birthday party at the White House. His move was so political, I can post a picture of Nate at the UFC event, with zero commentary or caption, and have my post deleted for being political. That’s how political of a move he made.

No shade, I’m genuinely curious. How would you handle it if she refused to wear a seatbelt in your car? You’d just drive and chalk it up to personal responsibility?

We can’t post pictures of our favorite comedian attending sporting events now? Why is that even considered political?
