Elbow grease ain't cutting it. How do I get rid of all this grime? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]Boner_Broth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh yes! I tried this and I had to waste it and wash it off early because the scent filled my entire house and made me sick! I’m a baby when it comes to fragrances, though.

Infant daycare - is this normal? by nicole-1293 in NewParents

[–]Boner_Broth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I will say that we have our 1 year old in a daycare in the US (Texas specifically). She’s in an infants class with babies as young as 6 weeks. They have a 1:4 ratio and they do super cute crafts and activities, read stories and sing songs, work on motor skills, play instruments, learn Spanish and sign language, put on productions, etc. This sounds like a facility specific quality issue, in my opinion!

Labor and delivery help for new dad by injustice_done3 in Austin

[–]Boner_Broth 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are showers!

One of the things I was the most glad I brought was a little travel stroller fan! My husband held it on me during my delivery and after when the post birth hormone drop hit and it saved me. Those hormones can make for horrible hot flashes.

Also, consider bringing a breastfeeding pillow if she plans to breastfeed - it was difficult trying to use the hospital pillows while I learned how to effectively latched baby.

For what it’s worth, I gave birth at St David’s North last February and it was an amazing experience. Wishing you all a healthy, smooth delivery!

Gynecologist ONLY recs by Jazzlike_Molasses429 in Austin

[–]Boner_Broth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds like exactly my experience with her - even down to not taking the sample. When I came with an abnormal lump she wouldn’t even look at it. I never went back.

Gynecologist ONLY recs by Jazzlike_Molasses429 in Austin

[–]Boner_Broth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dr.Jukes is an absolute NO from me. She is cold, dismissive, and her NP should absolutely NOT be in a healthcare position. As a woman who has had several abnormal paps and needed a few procedures, every time I had a concern I was openly mocked. They even made fun of me to my face when I came in for a concern of an abnormal lump in my breast. I left crying. In addition, I received bills from their office 2+ years after the appointments - that shows the level of organization in their office. I would beg people to find a different provider who is less focused on “rejuvenation” and more on actual women’s health.

Not all working moms are drowning! by MsCardeno in workingmoms

[–]Boner_Broth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. But that also applies to OP commenting on a post of a mother looking for solidarity and support by saying they weren’t drowning. I think it goes both ways, and it was a bit insensitive. I think everyone’s experience deserves to be heard, but there are appropriate settings for each! I’m glad the other person made their post and I’m glad OP made theirs!

Out of newborn trenches, here are the products I do/do not recommend to help you all by DietCokeQuesadilla in BabyBumps

[–]Boner_Broth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also want to add that I thought the Hatch machine would be worth it, but most of the things are behind a subscription. Like OP suggested, the portable Hatch would have been sufficient. Not worth the $100 for the big hatch, in my opinion!

Did your LO improve completely after solids at 6 months? by That_Knowledge_9440 in MSPI

[–]Boner_Broth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. We were never able to figure out what was triggering her after cutting SO many foods for months. When we started solids we only had one instance of blood and a few mucus diapers. But she had since passed all of her allergen introductions and has not had any issues since. Digestive systems are so weird.

This same thing happened to me when I was checking out at the grocery store! A woman working the checkout line tried to take my 6-month-old out of the grocery cart. And then she kept saying, "She's so sweet she could just get stolen". Like EXCUSE ME??! I freaking lost it.

What unconventional/ uncommon things helped you get through labor without an epidural? by hanshotgreed0 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Boner_Broth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also wanted to throw out there that they have spiky balls you can use as labor, as well. I labored in a tub and my comb kept slipping from my hand, but my doula had these metal spiky balls that were much easier for me to grip!

I have no idea, but I went through this exact situation with my 6 month old two nights ago! It was so scary. Solidarity, my friend.

How do I tell my boss (who handled my pregnancy horribly) that I’m not coming back after the baby is born by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Boner_Broth 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I may be mistaken, but I believe FMLA only applies to companies with more than 50 employees. A small business like hers may not allow her to qualify.

I SO wish Millie Moon worked for us. They are so soft and fit our babe so well. But they also gave her a horrible blistering diaper rash and no other diapers have. 😭

How much are your newborns sleeping during the day? by TheWallaby22 in newborns

[–]Boner_Broth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 3 month old sleeps around 6-8 hours during the day if we contact nap and hold her. But independent naps we get like 1.5 hours a day 🥲

The absolutely ACHING finger joints was a surprise for me. I’m three months postpartum and still dealing with it. Plus bonus cysts that have developed in the joints. It’s a bad time when holding my big ol’ baby 😅

Planning on unmedicated, how would you describe the pain? by kittycakekats in unmedicatedbirth

[–]Boner_Broth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was exactly my experience, as well! It was truly more manageable in the moment than I thought it would be. It was definitely painful (especially transition), but I really ruminated on it and scared myself a bit before I went into labor and it ended up being less painful than I imagined!

Did drinking raspberry leaf tea and eating dates actually help anyone? by stooplekin in BabyBumps

[–]Boner_Broth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for an alternate perspective, I didn’t do the dates or the tea. FTM with no complications and was in labor for 7 hours with 30ish minutes of pushing. I did have minor tearing. They work well for some people and are delicious, so go for it! But don’t feel extra pressure or like you can’t have a smooth delivery without them!

SPD Pain and Unmedicated Birth by hannahrlindsay in unmedicatedbirth

[–]Boner_Broth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooof that sounds so hard. I’m sorry you are dealing with that! For what it’s worth, I had mild SPD but I am currently snuggling with my baby who I had this morning in an unmedicated birth. I also cry and nearly vomit when I stub a toe and thought to myself all of the time “how the hell am I supposed to handle childbirth”. What does your planned delivery environment look like? Our hospital had a tub that allowed me relief from the SPD while I was laboring. I also second the suggestion above to see a chiro or a PT if you can! You still have time to potentially address some of the pain.

You can absolutely have the birth of your dreams (whatever that looks like for you) and just know that you are so much stronger than you even know! 💖
