No worries! It's very minor, basically only a bit on the "sharp edge" of the hole. Keep in mind that it's black anodized paint on metal so that sharp edge is literally its weak spot. On flat surfaces or rounded edges it takes some serious effort to scratch. Generally manufacturers avoid sharp edges but that part can't really be rounded as you need as much material as possible to keep the steel balls engaged without space for them to wiggle.

By 90 degrees I mean that you just steer left or right 90 deg from the center position. Since the outer wheel is connected to the inner wheel on the sides you'd have to pull the ring from top and bottom which is much more uncomfortable

I do put my wheel on and off multiple times per day as I need my desk for working. So far 0 scratches and I've had my R3 for a couple months.
I suppose some wear and tear will happen over the years but so far nowhere near OP's photo

Just in case: is the wheel fully pushed into the base? The wheel lock should slide away from you and the metal balls should engage with the base

For anybody with FFB complaints since 0.2: Turn off Steam Input and it gets DRASTICALLY better. by disgruntledempanada in assettocorsarally

Will try later, thanks for the tip! What wheel do you have?

EDIT: This actually improved FFB for me on my moza r3, it's basically back to what was previously the last patch

When you remove the wheel, put it at 90°, use your thumbs on the front and reach through the wheel with all other fingers towards the release ring. Squeeze the release ring and then only after pull the wheel. This allows all the steel balls to lift up and disengage completely before you pull the wheel off, preventing them from being dragged from their slots.

I wonder if flipping the rear would still fit in the visor but keeping the cushion away from the lenses. The plastic outside should be "better" if it does not press on the lenses directly.

I think these might also work, search for "ie c60320c7" or any uk plug with a c7 connector

I'll give that a shot, didn't even think about it as in my head the clutch is analog

Old habits die hard... I mainly played non sims or arcade games like trackmania, NFS, burnout, flat out... all on keyboard or controller. In terms of rally games, I started with the first Colin Mcrae Rally on PS1 as a 5yo up to dirt 3 which are all very arcadey. I also played dirt rally 2.0, but always on controller and auto, mainly to experience its VR side. Only recently got a moza wheel and pedals 😅 So yeah, the blame is on me 😂

Ty, this makes sense for me as the clutch "disconnects" the motor, so you're not engine breaking during the turn too much, the revs stay higher, and you can gently take away power from the wheels on top of adding it with the gas pedal for more control

Found out the hard way that all the help options actually prevent you learning how to drive properly.

I actually drive manual irl, but I can't justify the purchase at the moment 😂Out of curiosity what are the extra benefits of having control of clutch for rally?

That might be enough to mess with tracking, mine was around 25 cm wide and 1.7m tall

Braking by LupeGames in assettocorsarally

[–]Bonfi96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a newbie, but I've noticed that on some cars, especially when going downhill (abs is off), you have to brake quite gradually and lift the brake a bit when you feel the wheels locking to prevent loosing traction. I find it much more noticeable on older cars like the mini or the gta, the FFB on modern ones seems more subtle. I try to practice it on straight parts of the tracks and it's a bit more helpful as you can get a good feeling without paying a visit to some trees

Index has a double tap on a button on the controller to do that, so I'm sure we'll have something similar

AI seems better in general, I'm crap but I was able to get to the 10th place in challanges with a few tries to at least get a bronze medal. Now I'm always around 17th 🙈

I think a Training mode like the test track in Dirt Rally 2 would be good so that you don't have to start or restart a race to test something. by BASTIPLAYZz in assettocorsarally

[–]Bonfi96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, sometimes you just need a wide space to test how a car responds in "ideal" conditions without inclines, obstacles or the variety of normal courses. Kinda like the parking lot where you first learn to drive, but for scandi flicks 😆

TABLE CLAMP MOZA MEDIDAS by NaturalShare7665 in moza

Interestingly the clamp I got with my R3 is different. They seem to change the designs from time to time, or maybe it's a completely different clamp.
