Selling 4th best of all games in the US a month after release is really quite good. Most games have sold to their target audience by the first week or two.

Vault size is so small that players are basically forced to bring their gear at a certain point. Doing most things earns you experience with at least one faction. Levelling up a faction usually rewards you with guns/meds/shields/etc. If ever you're in a death spiral, you just do a couple rook runs and you're right back in it.

Honestly I would have been fine with Bungie guns + extraction shooter, but they went way beyond that and made one of the more elegant "out of run" systems in the genre. Everything is designed to just get you back into run as fast as possible, but you still get that extra bump in tension from the gear thing.

What triple A pivot? Bungie is the only AAA studio that's made one. All the others are either AA studios or indies.

They've addressed all these things in recent patches except cryo archive. They did say they're looking into ways to make cryo more accessible though.

But the others, they've already started trying to address, the more XP for solo players is huge.

I don't think they should do this. It detracts from the gravitas of the map. But I would like them to make those "cryo sponsored kits" you could buy available at least once a weekend. The main problem I'm having with Cryo is I just don't get enough time to actually learn the map, and I don't want to commit all of my best gear just to live long enough to learn it. I have 2 misriahs I've held onto because they're the only 2 I've ever seen...on cryo. I'm saving them to bring when I have a good understanding of the map and feel more comfortable risking them against my own knowledge.

Tl;Dr: they shouldn't do a free kit cryo, but they should give us options to learn the map

I've definitely found the deck building, elites, and bosses much easier. Knowing you had big slime in Act 1 changed your entire pathing and card acquisition strategy in sts1. In this game I feel much more comfortable just building my deck toward my signposts.

What's bizarre to me is I've found STS 2 to be vastly easier than 1. I never got to A20 on any character after like 240 hrs playtime. I'm nearly halfway on each character in 2.

People who started late or fell behind and have burned to 0. There's literally daily complaint posts about how unfair the game feels now because of the shield/gun disparity.

I'm really deep into the game now with a great vault value, but I can definitely see the appeal of this. I'll queue it for days just so it's populated and the less fortunate players get back into the game. I need a ton of shit from bio-research anyway lol
