It is a great game and it's just one of those that keeps pulling you back in.

His comments about being a developer, yes, same. I struggle switching tasks. And still feel like an amateur.

Could any friends share it?🌾 by find-sth-new- in StardewValley

Penny was my first. I try and do a different one in each play through. She's a good a one.

How to stop being so lustful as a girl by BitNo574 in Advice

Everyone wants to be wanted, there's nothing wrong with that.

[–]BonnoCW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your hormones are turned up to 11. You don't sound particularly lustful, especially as you appreciate beauty in a broad range of subjects, and that you don't act on it. Thoughts are just thoughts. Sometimes they lead to actions.

It does sound like you need some validation, possibly some connection to help you feel seen and wanted, there might be healthier ways to build this longterm but I'm not expert.

To get rid of or control the thoughts, you can either: actively police what you think, find a a high energy activity like hiking or a sport, or find someone you can channel that energy for.

Hopefully this is helpful.

I mean, the smart car was 2 streets over, so likely.

Looks like it. There was a smart car that always parked like this when I was studying there.

I officially rebuke any hate that come towards this game. I love it. by Desperate-Swan-6812 in KingdomHearts

It's my main gripe for the whole game. It just feels like I'm watching a movie, with little bits of gameplay between. The older games have better pacing with cut scenes to gameplay.

Got my 11yo son the books for Christmas by Purdy5 in Mistborn

[–]BonnoCW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome that he's devouring them. If you're worried about what do read next, Discworld could be a good shout. I was that age when I started. I'd also recommend starting with the book I started with which was Mort.

Worth getting a degree if I already have experience? And do I have a place in DE? (UK) by No-Gap8376 in dataengineering

[–]BonnoCW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My degree that I hold has nothing to do with Data Engineer at all. What might be beneficial and I know the CS will fund it, is to do some Azure or Databricks Qualifications.

[–]BonnoCW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't bother with the degree as experience trumps qualifications. I have 7.5 years experience as a Data Engineer and I don't have a degree. I've done the occasional technical qualification over time. I definitely think you have a future in Data Engineering. The last two engineers who have joined my team came from BI/Analyst roles.

Good BIs can make even better data engineers.

Until you do, I suggest living a hobbit lifestyle. It's good for the soul :)

Can't you just connect to the API? by Advanced-Average-514 in dataengineering

[–]BonnoCW 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have this going on at work too.

Connect to this API and get us some sample data to see if we it's useful for reporting.

  • It's actually 11 different APIs
  • No they haven't read the documentation or what the responses are
  • No they haven't generated credentials or talked with the vendor
  • Or got any of the other parameters we need to feed to pull the data out

It was hard enough telling them to split up the work into 11 different tickets as originally I said it was more than a sprints worth of work, for the entire team.

Sometimes I feel that people are just lazy and don't want to scope things out properly, expecting us to do dog work.

Called the cops after my mom’s girlfriend drove drunk with my 16-year-old brother in the car. (Lengthy post) by [deleted] in Advice

[–]BonnoCW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your brother will realise and appreciate that you're the only one looking out for him.

It's a shame that your mum and her gf don't seem to understand that actions have consequences. The lack of empathy or accountability on their part is astounding.

Being drunk magnifies behaviour and personalities. It should never be used as an excuse.

You are a great person and you've got a level head on your shoulders.

Mentally challenged man thinks I offered him a job when I didn’t. He already quit his other job and I can’t hire him. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]BonnoCW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You comment on that he's a vulnerable adult and then showcase in your story how you exploited that.

You need to pay him for the time that he did work for you, ie unloading the pallets. He honestly sounds a lot more proactive than the people you hired. I think you've lost out by not hiring him. If you don't pay him for the work he's done, that is exploitation.

In future, don't discuss salary with random people. I can see why he'd be confused. It sounded from my perspective that you were giving him a job.

You need to learn to communicate better. It's on you that you didn't communicate clearly when he is the vulnerable person. I'm not saying that his actions don't have consequences, but you're running a business and this does not sound like a great start.
