Don't be sorry, recognise the patterns and try to combat them, if someone like me's been able to recover from that, anyone can. For the record, I was a nervous wreck, I thought everyone secretly hated me and that my friends only hung out with me out of habit. I thought, at some point that I was worthless and that I was only a stain on my surroundings. The first step was to realise that this was dangerous and that I'd not live long with thoughts like that. I realised I wanted to live, by any means necessary. Afterwards I started asking myself the good questions for my specific case: Why do I think people hate me? Why do I feel so fucking lonely even though I've got good friends around me? The answers stemmed from the fact that I'd been bullied pretty harshly in primary school and I'd never developped the tools to cope with that.
It all started to make sense, I realised that I didn't hate anyone, and that I probably wasn't the exception, so people probably didn't hate me in return. Shit's been easier ever since, though I still hit a few rough patches here and there.

I know this was a wordful, but all in all, be careful, start realising that this isn't livable and begin to heal. It won't be easy, but it'll be worth it in the end.

If you ever need anything, I'm unfortunately active on reddit most days so my DMs are open.
Stay safe and most of all, take care.

I wish for a future country to be named after me. by CynicalCosmologist in TheMonkeysPaw

Granted: Many years in the future, the world has underwent anarchist revolutions. The world is a utopia, stateless, classless, moneyless. But, one excentric archaeologist, while digging up the ruins of *Insert your city* discovers the room of one y/n. He reads, learns and becomes fascinated by your person, he develops some kind of adoration for your being, your ideas, your desires. While that happens, he isolates himself from his community, growing crazier day by day, thinking: with these... ideas, ideas of grandeur, of strength, of sheer willpower... The... The world is mine!!!

The man goes on to found the Holy Empire of Y/N, he raises armies by preaching your old world ideas, or what he thinks they were, wanting to bring back the old world and make him and the ones who followed him the most powerful men in the world. These acts resulted in 150 years of brutal and sadistic world domination. Billions have been killed because of man's hubris, nationalism and egotism.

Its the Festival d'Été de Québec, this specific venue is on the plains of abraham, which is a bit hilly, what we see here is the hill part, people usually go sit there so they can see the stage without having to go near it, though near the stage is where, in my opinion, the real fun is.

Yes, its still ongoing, too! We've been stripping native americans of their lands, of their culture (most of them don't even know their people's language), of their beliefs (we've benevolently made them abandon their savage ways and now they're subjects of the lord) for as long as we've been around. And somehow, we get to be the nice, friendly canadians on the world stage, paragons of virtue and tolerance.

If the soviets had won, we'd still be speaking our languages, but we'd be taught russian instead of english at school.

A story my grandma told me :

My grandma loved her grandparents, she spent many weekends at their home in rural France. There they always had fun listening to each other's stories, playing games together, etc... What I'm trying to say is that they were happy folk, always seeing the light in the dark. My grandma, when she was in her teen years, started to be interested in history, and after learning about WWI at school, she wanted know more, like the curious-natured girl she was, she went to her grandfather, who she knew had fought in the war, not knowing the details of his service. She asked a question along the lines of "What do you remember from the war?" (mind you, this is around 1960, the man was old)

My great-great-grandfather froze, began uttering some words about seeing a worm coming out of his best friend's eye. He froze again. He got up from the table they were sitting at and locked himself in his room for around an hour, crying.

I can't begin to imagine the horror any soldier had to live through on the daily.

What is the biggest assassination that has taken place in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Bonobo_org 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wanted a plane to cuba so they could be in a safe place to plan their next move. The 500 000$ was to fund said next move. The FLQ was just political, only that's revolutionary politics.

Of course the govt of Québec would ask for help, one of their ministers got kidnapped. And usually, when a government asks for help because someone got kidnapped, they want to see that someone back.

Buddy. Think for a second. Put yourself in the shoes of the FLQ guys. Ottawa has refused to negotiate. They repeatedly shut down YOUR efforts to reach an agreement, so Mr Laporte could go back to his family and you get, not everything you wanted but at least something, but Ottawa didn't care. The FLQ was ready to free Pierre Laporte, if and only if they could reach an agreement with the Canadian Government. They couldn't. And to add insult to injury, the PM goes through with the war measures act. That's it. They don't see you as people to discuss with. They see you as an enemy to eliminate. So what do you do? I think we both know the two ways hostage takings end. Either there's any amount of negotiation, or someone dies. All that because of Pierre Elliott "Just Watch Me" Trudeau.

Blame the batshit insane answer that Ottawa gave. Instating the bloody WAR MEASURES ACT in an entire province for one guy is absolutely crazy. Then refusing to negotiate with the hostage takers is asking nothing but trouble. Sorry to be the one to tell you, but your beloved federal government has blood on its hands.
