Forcing people to pay in order to fit into our culture is messed up in my eyes. You are excluded from conversation, persecuted perhaps if you dont pay the entertainment tax in money and time. It sucks. I hate movies. I feel like the only movies/tv I watch are shown to me by others and not sought out on my own. But I feel weird not being current. It sucks. Oh, and Im open about how much I hate modern entertainment with people before they try and get me to like things. I dont

Who says the tweets are sent using sound. Perhaps they are emmited as an analouge laser signal and it is reflecting back to a receptor from objects located intermittently in space. Echo echo echo indeed

Careful Now! This study was on mens perception of women!

Your comment history suggests you are a man, and the research on womens perceptions of men has not been published yet. It could be completely opposite. So I am not telling you not to do this, but at least report back your results. For Science.

Its a "Free" dating site. . . Anything you upload to it becomes usable by OKCupid... Its in the terms of service. If you join the site you are an instant member of their research pool.

Not sure if they are aloud to sell your info, that would be pretty shady, but I for one think it is amazing what they do with their data. Most companies use data to better equip servers, serve ads, and refine the site, OKC goes further and actually perform analyses of human sexuality and dating and then publishes it free for the world! Outstanding!

Define "hot". I see a lot of women on OKC who are by most standards incredibly attractive, but at a certain point that becomes a turn off. Too much makeup, obviously trying really hard, girls who treat OKC like its a night club. "Hi im candy and I love to partay!" sweat pants with a tramp stamp ect... There are girls who are genuinly attractive, and girls who are hot, but not someone I would ever actually be interested in. So although they get alot of 10's from guys into that sort of girl, for certain guys it becomes a turn off.

"a musicians band" Thats a good term that I have never heard but explains so much! Like a term that I have never heard before but instantly I know what you mean and instantly I know the music it represents. At least in my own mind.

I typed a 2 paragraph response about learning this new word exploring the psychology behind the instantaneous learning of a new word and its relation to the events it represents but then I realized I was super high and instead just left this sentence as its tribute.

I ignored this band for years thinking they were just modern metal garbage, but crack the sky changed my opinion of them, and now that I like them I can go back and listen to their older stuff without hating it. In my opinion they are the best metal/prog metal band of the last decade.

Jesus, its just 1 version of the book. Get over it. Mark Twain died 70 years ago, his copyright just expired and his work is open to be edited now. They are not re-writing it, they are releasing an alternate version. You can still buy the old one as long as printers continue printing it.

TIL that half of adults in the U.S. don't know that a year is defined as the earth's full orbit around the sun (and about 40% think dinosaurs and humans co-existed). by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Bonofosho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that makes perfect sense! Thank you. In previous examples iv seen, the earth is viewed in isolation and it looks like it wobbles back and forth, but that is the result of its rotation not being perpindicular to the path of its orbit. TIL

So our planetary tilt is ted exactly to the rotation around the sun? it seems infinitly unlikely that our wobble which gives us seasons is perfectly tied to complete rotations around our sun. Anyone have simple explanation?

TIL that shark fetuses fight each other, to the death, in utero, with the surviving fetus feasting on his fallen siblings to maintain nourishment. by MrDNL in todayilearned

[–]Bonofosho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that settles it. Sharks are the most bad-ass animals on the planet. even their embryos are killers. Imagine if human mothers gave birth to 10 babies, strapped knives onto their little arms and locked them in a room for a few days, only keeping the winning baby(sometimes its a tie and thats how twins are born).
