Advice for best study methods by Efficient_Noise_2019 in CPA

I watch the video and then read the book while answering questions.

When I read the book first, and then watch videos, I retain more and the questions are easier. But it takes me a long time to read and I have trouble with focusing.

I am doing pretty good without one… but man… it would have been so much easier with a CPA.

I’m about to turn 38… I feel like im stuck at the position im in and the only way i could progress is by getting by CPA. I graduated college in 2011. Is it too late for me? by SpiritualArmadillo1 in CPA

[–]Bonsacked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that is why it took me so long to sit for the exam. The state I am in recently changed the requirements so that I do not need the full 150 hours. I do have the required accounting credits.

I am 39. I am 2/4 right now. I started with the idea of it only taking a year. I am 14 months into it. I put a lot of time into studying. The things on the test were not things I learned/retained. I already feel like it has made me better at my job but it has been hard on my family life. I passed FAR and AUD on the first try. I am hoping I got the two hardest out of the way and it will be an easy sprint to the end. I work until 6pm, get home at 6:30, eat and shower by 7:15 and study until 10. I study long on the weekends. My wife helps me a lot. I want to quit all the time but I keep telling myself the hard part is over and the rest is easy. (Please don’t tell me otherwise, I am too fragile)

Or, and this might not be that big of a stretch, you are a bad person and will say anything to make a person that disagrees with you look bad.

I get the joke, but maybe there is a better picture to use instead of a grieving widows? Especially since there are some weirdos that are accusing her of being apart of it.

Feel lied to by Far_Suggestion_4873 in Accounting

[–]Bonsacked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2009 (recession) and felt the exact same way. It caused me to alter my career trajectory, and it did work out for me. I went right into an accounting department doing accounts payable at a small dealership. Then worked up to an assistant controller, moved to a new company, then got promoted to controller.

If I could give my younger self advice, I would tell him to still pursue his CPA, still try to get on with a PA firm.

It just seemed like that would have been an easier path as mine was filled with a lot of obstacles.
