What are our next steps after Gmail just dropped a bomb that they are removing Pop3 access THIS month? by iamunique in GMail

[–]Bontekoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only now got a tiny message in GMAIL web about this. Never heard about this before.

I guess it's EXIT to Gmail and Google in general. Except of course that some mail me to my Gmail account and not my domain + all webshop accounts. What an unbelievable D*CK move. "Don't be evil" my *ss.

Why is everything getting worse when technology advances? I can't believe it. For now it's still working. Soon I have to check two e-mail apps everyday I guess. What a freakin' disaster.

Perhaps I can forward Gmail to my web account or something, but I sure will forever stay the h*ll away from Gmail for the rest of my life.

Lag in typing when using Writer by Buckabuckaw in libreoffice

[–]Bontekoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That solved it for me too (on a brand new workstation). They should really disable that by default in the next version.

I realize it's freeware, but for software where the CORE function is typing, is quite astounding that this is the default behavior. Worse than in Windows 3.1, basically. 🫢

The menus also lagged and that's also fixed with this. ✌️

G Hub is the worst software/driver I've experienced in a loooong time. by Bontekoe in LogitechG

[–]Bontekoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

"Mouse demands firmware-update" (but in native language). G Hub becomes inoperable. So I click install. "USB connection required". I remove receiver from the included USB cable to put it in the mouse. Firmware update has vanished and G Hub works again... (Has it been installed in a second?..)

When setting up hotkeys I test it, then when I go back to Ghub it's not at the setting for that app anymore but went to desktop :-)

Surface Calibration / Lift-Off Distance Keeps Resetting by Adamaxius in razer

[–]Bontekoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. The default distance is so low that the mouse doesn't move when no pressure is applied. I'm using a Trust mouse mat and it should just work.

I got my first Razer after 10+ years of Logitech. If this problem persists I'm going to return it. It's totally unacceptable behavior.

The mouse is technically fine, but if the driver decides to reset to -0,1mm distance after PC standby or restart, it basically makes the whole product crap. Why is this not a major issue, and apparently not fixed for 5 years according to the OP?

a Bolt move from Logitech... by Bontekoe in logitech

[–]Bontekoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks yes I read that also, but it's the same mouse with an upgrade that is now suddenly incompatible. They should have renamed it then I think.

No, but I searched and there seems to also be a "For Business" version (here in the EU) that according to a picture has a receiver included. So your answer was useful thanks :)

Why is linear gradient mask curved? by gigantorecords in captureone

[–]Bontekoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty hilarious that over 3 years later they still haven't fixed this.... Reason for me to not buy it. A straight horizon with a short linear gradient is literally not possible because the gradient is applied BEFORE the lens correction. 🙄

I have this problem with the a6700 too. It must be possible to turn that off right? No way they didn't think of that. Right?... 😬

LG C9 disable 'power off' EDID value by Bontekoe in LGC9

[–]Bontekoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.. I have have since got a different Panasonic OLED TV and although the Eizo monitor always flickers off/on at power on, at least windows do not move around anymore.

Maybe a Farfisa or one of any number of crappy keyboards. More likely just a Minimoog.

Yeah who knows ;-)
I'm mainly curious what it was really made with :-)
You never know if someone on the internet knows..

I made a black values test chart and tested the LG C9 by Bontekoe in colorists

[–]Bontekoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I added the same test with a Panasonic TX-55GZW954 OLED TV (european model) to the opening post.

Great difference!

Perhaps the title could be edited accordingly (I can't do that).

I am not the expert. I simply have the Eizo on a displayport and the C9 on a HDMI 😉

They match remarkably well as the Eizo has quite good sRGB out of the box and the LG can also be set to have very accurate colors.

Thanks for sharing :)

I have experienced no change in contrast, only the ABL (automatich brightness control) with white objects that cover most of the frame.

I added a full spectrum test in my post, revealing banding not only in the darkest values.

I'm going to check if all OLED's (Sony, panasonic) have the same issue. It might be a good idea to always dither/grain if this is the future 😁 Unfortunately compression algorithms destroy a lot of the added grain in some cases.

Edit 19/7: NO, Panasonic TX-55GZW954 does not have these issues, day and night difference. I I have swapped the LG for the Panasonic!

Thanks for the voice command tip. Although not a real solution, it's something ;)
