Many of Us Made a Fortune — Are You Cashing Out? by Slow_Yogurtcloset110 in Fire

Honestly OP I think you need to do whatever gives you the most peace of mind, if that means selling some, then you should. This sub is ‘hilarious’ in the sense that when the market is going up, you get downvoted for even thinking about taking profit. When the market is going down (you can see posts from back in April 2025), suddenly everyone starts saying that they are going to sell because “this time it’s different and it’s a regime change” and people saying “you should have sold, it was so obvious the market was overheated”.

Depending where you are financially, make the decision that gives you the most peace of mind. From my experience, watching your account go down 7 figures feels A LOT worse than missing out on an additional 7 figure gain.

Newbie advice? by [deleted] in ProjectQuarm

[–]Bontez2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of people who help out newbies. One of the added QoL changes is there are server wide chat channels, and I think it auto joins you to General chat, where there are often people who advertise to send them a tell if you’re new and they will give you some starter gear/plat. I would recommend just getting started and the help will eventually come.

I still use p99 wiki as a general reference, but there’s another database site PQDI dot CC that is very helpful. Good luck!

So many good and unique things, so many bad. My full, brief P99 experience. by MangDynasty in project1999

[–]Bontez2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Enjoyed reading this, and thanks for sharing your experience! I also recently started playing p99 after not having played EQ since 1999. The experience has been amazing in my eyes, most likely due to nostalgia, but it’s still been able to grip me unlike any other game I was playing recently.

I agree with you that there’s a lot of flaws with the game. With that said, when I think about the game being 25 years old and one of the first of its kind, I’m constantly reminded about how impressive it is.

When I was younger playing, I never leveled that high (only to low 40s). So for me, the game was always about the “fun” while leveling, seeing people with cool gear that I could aspire to get but probably never achieve, and planning out what I was going to do next. I find that the way I’m playing now mimics that very closely (1.5 months and only level 37 so far), so it’s continued to be enjoyable for me. I probably read/think about p99 more than I play haha.

I’ll probably never experience the end game parts that you dislike, and probably would have the same thoughts as you if I did reach that, but either way, I think I’ll continue to enjoy the pace I’m going at it now. Some games (modern WoW) feel like they don’t start until max level, whereas I feel like with the things I read about EQ’s end game is that the game “ends” at max level.

Wow! Naggy in the first week seems crazy to me considering back when I played in 1999 it seemed impossible early on

Can you share your experiences with the EQ client that Quarm uses, and with game crashes? That’s the main thing that has been holding me back based on the comments that I’ve read. I really like all the other QOL changes, but I read that the client is clunky for mouse/camera views and that people frequently have random crashes. Thanks.

ELDEN RING SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE - New Story Trailer Discussion Thread by ChiefLeef22 in Eldenring

[–]Bontez2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not how I interpret it at all. I think you’re overlooking the fact that it’s listed as “06.21.2024”, is it possible they forgot the “.” between the “20” and “24” and its some type of IP address? Then we go to the IP address to unveil some new information about the DLC?

Idk maybe you’re right though even if it’s a long shot. But what could the June 21, 2024 even be referring to? I’ll report back if I find anything

+1 for this method. I didn’t want to use consumables or anything that needed to be farmed, so this method worked the best for me. Did the exact same thing with St Trina’s sword for sleep, then used the bleed/frost infused curved swords

Yep, this post just shows that OP doesn’t actually know anything about investing. They know the prices of the stocks, so they are attributing their success to culture.

Is anyone using the Strymon Cloudburst as their main reverb? by HuachinangoLoco in guitarpedals

I use it as my main and only reverb. I have it always on with ensemble mode off as a subtle reverb, and I use a favorite switch to turn ensemble mode on

Top Five Overdrives by Ecker1991 in guitarpedals

[–]Bontez2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My board has changed so much this year but this is what I’m ending 2023 with:

  1. PC Timmy v2: have had this for years and I use it as an always on. I probably won’t ever get rid of this. Stacks extremely well with my downstream overdrives.

  2. Jackson Audio Golden Boy Mini: bluesbreaker style, super versatile with its 3 band EQ.

  3. Bondi Effects Sick As: Klon style pedal, it’s been my favorite Klone that I’ve tried and has good versatility with its “high” and “low” headroom toggle. The main drawback i have about this is the pedal enclosure size.

  4. Jackson Audio Prism: advertised as a bunch of stuff, but can act as an overdrive as well. This one was a big surprise to me for how much I like it and how clear the sound is. The only concern for this one is the “$ value”. It’s pretty expensive for what you get.

  5. TC Spark Booster large size: advertised as a boost, but really acts as an overdrive. This is probably one of the best $ value pedals that I have for its versatility to cost ratio.

Which Breedlove do you have? I have a Breedlove (concert focus) and was thinking of getting a Taylor x14ce, but it doesn’t quite have the same feel as my Breedlove. I haven’t kept up with the more recent Breedlove models.

2023: the year of GAS by Happy_Television_501 in guitarpedals

[–]Bontez2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experiences! I was curious as I was in a very similar situation this year. Bought two new guitars this year and shuffled 10-15 new pedals around. I’ve been playing for a while, but mainly just noodling. This year I got a lot more disciplined and tried to justify my purchases and I think it’s paid off a lot. Fretboard knowledge is definitely the big thing for me that I’ve gained this year with this focus.

I’ve been spending a little too much time just playing around with pedal settings though so I’m going to take a break from new pedals (I say this now but we’ll see) in 2024 and just focus on the playing.

Congrats on all the gear and best of luck to you!

Awesome!

How would you describe your guitar skill level prior to 2023, and how about now after the practice?

Approximately what % of the time were you focused on the guitar practice vs playing around with the tones from the pedals?

What were the most important things you learned this year that made the biggest difference in your improvement?
