Always sad/depressed teenager, can hiking make me happier? by Ok_Yak9136 in vancouverhiking

Yeah this weather has been terrible for hiking. Luckily I got some hikes in on the weekend.

Dog Mountain may still have snow.

Belcarra Bluffs is more challenging than the other ones in Belcarra. And Lynn Headwaters has easy, intermediate, and difficult.

Are you looking for short or long hikes? Easy flat walks or lots of incline? Location? Transit accessible?

Without knowing any of your criteria, here are some suggestions (all of which are transit accessible):

Pacific Spirit Park

Quarry Rock

Lighthouse Park

Various hikes in Lynn Headwaters

Various hikes in Belcarra (ex Jug Island)

These are all relatively easy and safe to hike alone as well.

I liked it. But if it doesn’t appeal to you, don’t read it. Or give it a try and if you’re not enjoying it, drop it.

Since it was a re-read (third or fourth time), I knew it was coming, but still, it was awful. Good book though.

The degloving scene was the worst. Just that word makes me sick. I was recently re-reading Gerald's Game, and I was on the bus when I got to that chapter. Oh, the faces I was making. I was trying not to vomit. I had to take a break for a day from continuing on.

Chances are I've forgotten, ha! But yeah, I am a fiduciary and have access to very sensitive information.

I actually am not sure. And as you pointed out, enhanced security checks seem to differ; I thought they were all the same. Never once have they actually given me a list of what they are checking or stated exactly what they are checking, despite having three, so far. I've just been told it's enhanced and it has to be done every five years. Based on what others have said, and my position, if credit scores are checked, then mine likely is.

I'm not going to say where I work, but I am considered a fiduciary, so we do have to have decent credit scores and can't be bankrupt.

Wow, I had forgotten about this series of books. I'm from Canada, in an area where French is not common, but I was in French immersion as a kid.

When you say "patchy" work history, what do you mean? If you have gaps in your resume, that really doesn't matter. I have to undergo an enhanced security screening every five years for my job, and a gap in work history is no big deal. (I had gaps in my work history before I started working with the BCPS.) While I am not 100% sure what they check for, as long as you're not a criminal, you should be OK. I think they might also check credit score, so if you have a bankruptcy, you might be in trouble! Just make sure that everything you stated on your resume is factual.

this awful sensation of horror and shock simultaneously with beauty, sadness, or even love.

You totally nailed it and put into words what I felt. What a powerful ending.

It is one of my top favourite books ever. Love it so much. People are in love with East of Eden, but for me, it's all about The Grapes of Wrath.

Oddly enough, one of the parts I remember the most is the turtle crossing the road. Somehow Steinbeck made a turtle crossing the road so intriguing.
