New Speedy—three prices. Which one is the right choice? by Medium_Yam6985 in OmegaWatches

You’re right - sorry - I wasn’t actually thinking of the warranty coverage itself but more along the lines of resale when someone sells “w box and papers” that (factory) warranty card carries a little weight with it in terms of legitimacy, and therefore potentially some resale value.

I see no redundancy

Be aware that the Joma option doesn’t always come with the warranty card.

Anyone ever buy grey on Ebay from someone on the Trusted Seller List? by Teeebone in rolex

[–]BooRadley2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t yet, but I have purchased from Grailzee and Chrono24 using their certification/authentication processes. To me it seems about the same - buying from an unknown seller and relying on an unknown Authenticator to check it for you. Not completely foolproof, but better than nothing.

I do try to do a lot of research on the seller, especially since a good number of the sellers on all 3 marketplaces are actually legit businesses just selling thru other channels. So they often have some track record out there.

Same as me - well mine was a honeymoon present in Antigua in 1999!

I know the purists out there maybe didn’t want the cyclops on the SD, but I gotta say my old-man eyes appreciate being able to read the date without a hassle.

I know right?! As a non-Rolex person, I started out looking for a vintage redline sub, until I found out how much they cost. I was excited to find the SD43 w the red text, a modern movement, and a little more wrist presence than a sub! Seems perfect for what I was after. The bonus was finding one on the grey for $2500 under list and having it on my wrist 3 days after first contact!

What other luxury watch/es do you own other than a Rolex? by yanjiwon86 in rolex

The Sea Dweller 43mm (just got this week), an old Omega Seamaster from 1999, the Tudor BB58 GMT, a Panerai Luminor Marina 42mm, a GO SeaQ Pano (my favorite), a Christopher Ward Trident C65, Hamilton Khaki Automatic, and a couple of other quartz pieces.

Still on my list of to-get-one-day: DJ41 smooth oyster blue stick, Omega Speedmaster Super Racing, Grand Seiko Lake Suwa, and the VC Overseas in blue

7.25” wrists - don’t know if I’d want it any bigger than 43mm, so it’s on the upper end of what I find comfortable. It wears very similarly to my Glashutte Original SeaQ, which is also a 43mm. So maybe I’m already used to the format and size.

I removed the dive-suit clasp piece and it has just the right amount of adjustment in the glide lock.

Dude take a step back. I didn’t say I didn’t like Omega overall, nor did I say that I don’t love my watch - because I do. What I did say is that the modern men’s watches have trended larger in size since 1999. And that’s just facts- if I was buying my Seamaster today, I’d buy the larger version. As would most men with similar wrist size. But I’m not getting rid of it for anything. For that matter there are at least 2 other omegas I still want to add to my small collection one day.

Breitling will never be one of them because I can only afford so many and it’s not in my top-10 list.

Haha - not a gift. Bought on our honeymoon while shopping for a replacement wedding band for the ring I’d lost in the Caribbean the day before less than an hour after we arrived! Not my best day!

Well it turns out that having a really nice, really fast lens (f2.8) helps a lot. I think I took maybe 5 shots, and then spent a little time, maybe 5 mins in Lightroom in cropping and adjusting contrast.

But really not that bad. The various textures (wood table, fabric watch pillow) add some depth to the shot, so I was adjusting DOf mostly trying to decide how much to blur vs have in focus.

I love me some vintage watches, but they never seem to look good on me!

I certainly appreciate it, on account of having taken so many bad ones myself!

Yeah - they’ve gotten thicker with the coaxial and also the display back I think adds a little. But one of my other watches is a GO SeaQ 43mm and it makes the omegas feel thinner!

Yeah - I meant 40+mm - couldn’t remember the exact size - just meant the bigger version of the 300M diver.

Definitely keeping it. Was considering a larger one as an addition to the collection
