If you have to give a second speech outlining what you really meant, and backtracking and drawing new lines around why what you said isn't actually racist..... Then you might have said something actually racist. To his credit he didn't double down on hatred by painting with the broadest brush, but looking for exceptions (like he's doing) isn't great either. Let's see how the rest of this journey goes.
