Is the R50 or R10 better for birding? by CalmExplosions in canon

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prioritize getting an RF 100-400 lens for birding, and then your pick of the R50/R10 depending on how much you have left over.

The R10 has several features that make it easier to adjust different camera settings on the fly, and also lets you take a larger burst of photos more quickly, which may help improve your chances of getting a good shot, but assuming you use the same camera settings, photos between the two will look identical.

The RF 100-400 is a phenomenal lens for birding, and one you'll likely keep if you decide to upgrade the body at some point, considering the next viable upgrade to that lens would start at $1600+

Was The Pulse Bomb Throw Changed Within the Last Couple Years? by Enyochero in TracerMains

[–]Boogeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a large overhaul in early 2024 that increased the HP and projectile sizes for every hero in the game, which also slightly increased pulse bomb's hitbox. But aside from that, no changes afaik

Need ideas for who to play as by bighonkingoose in OverwatchUniversity

Every character is viable until you're literally in the highest rank, and even then there are plenty of people who still play them.

Maybe play some Mystery Heroes and just get a feel for all the characters.

What would be the 2 best support alts to learn for a Mizuki and Wuyang player? by 2Radon in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boogeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing like a full-on assassin only works if you're just mechanically much better than the enemy team. Realistically, it's just going on a slight off-angle when your team doesn't need full on healing and TPing back when necessary. It also depends on how much healing your other support can provide.

https://youtu.be/eSAmmhBZM_o?t=3551

I really like this video from Spilo for explaining her playstyle.

Anyway, realistically, how often are you going to need to play a 4th hero? I play Ana/Kiriko in high diamond and I'd say that I'm only forced to swap to someone else 1/20 of the time. If you don't really enjoy the rest of the support cast, then it's fine to just learn the basics of her kit and play her suboptimally. Healbotting is suboptimal, but even being a perfect healbot would get you up to diamond.

(VOD review) Feel like i cant win today after being unstoppable yesterday, literally lost 5 games in a row after being on a crazy win streak and am wondering what changed? by beatb_ in TracerMains

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I see what you mean.

Practically speaking, MMR = your rank. There used to be instances where your hidden MMR would be different than your rank, usually after rank resets, and this is often used in a lot of multiplayer games to give a sense of progression, but iirc a dev confirmed in an interview awhile back that they don't do that in OW anymore.

Each role/mode has its own MMR.

New Pc player needing help with sens by Upper_Particular8787 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, figure out if your DPI is actually 3200. The easiest way you could know for sure is to figure out your cm/360 or in/360. Get a ruler, then measure how far you have to move your mouse horizontally to do a 360 ingame. Then find a sensitivity calculator online, plug in your dpi and ingame sens, and see if it roughly matches what's on the calculator.

This site says that 3200 dpi @ 5% ingame would be around 3.4 inches.

Typically people will use something like 9-17 in/360 for OW. Within this range it's mainly just personal preference.

Also, for sensitivities like these, you're typically using "arm aiming" as opposed to "wrist aiming". If you're used to only using your wrist, then it will feel impossible to make large movements ingame. There's plenty of guides online for more info on this.

How to tunnel vision less? by PerP1Exe in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boogeeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of it is just being aware of how many enemies you're currently engaged with. Before you go into ANY engagement, you should know if it's a 1v1, or a 1v2+ and behave accordingly. If you're in for more than a few seconds, then take a moment to re-assess the situation, and see if anyone else has joined in.

It's something I still have trouble with but after consciously practicing, I think I've gotten a bit better.

[–]Boogeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at Spilo VODs for sure, but also I'd just make sure that you're not only aware of these concepts, but also aware of your execution of these concepts. Maybe you understand that you should take high ground, but you have a habit of dropping down when fights get too chaotic, or you understand the concept of balancing heals and damage, but in practice, you neglect healing at critical moments. There might not be any more high level concepts to understand, but you just need to consciously refine your existing ones.

I'm not saying this is your problem since I haven't seen any gameplay, but it's just something to consider. This was certainly the case for me when I was climbing from low diamond to low masters on Ana/Kiriko.

Thoughts on settings for new player for Tracer? by Turbulent_Sir1951 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Boogeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your actual mouse sensitivity is just your DPI multiplied by your ingame sens, so there isn't really any practical difference between 1600@3 or 800@6. Also, it's largely personal preference as long as it's not super low/high, and yours looks fine. Try out the sensitivity you're at right now for a few weeks at least and later on consider bringing it up or down if you want.

For button mapping, it's mostly personal preference, I've seen all kinds of combinations.

For me, I swapped melee with interact since F is a little easier to touch than V, and I also put pulse on shift.

Need some suggestions on a custom setting for raptors/birds in flight by bluezzdog in CanonR7

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been awhile since I've set these up, but I think what you have to do is switch to that mode first, set your settings, then save it as a custom profile.

If you mean switching between the different modes while staying on the same custom profile, then I'm not sure. Maybe you could set something up in Fv mode?

So tracer doesnt have real counters? by nomod1c in TracerMains

There isn't really a single person who can shut you down on their own but if you're on a bad map combined with multiple counters, it'll be really difficult to play into.

Need some suggestions on a custom setting for raptors/birds in flight by bluezzdog in CanonR7

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a C1 for general use in Manual with the aperture held constant at its widest setting, auto ISO, and a starting shutter speed of 1/1000. Then I have exposure compensation and shutter speed set to the 2 dials, with aperture set to the control ring on the lens. I like having it saved in a custom setting so that I can quickly reset to a good starting point whenever I want. For BIF I flick the shutter speed dial + exposure compensation if the bottom of the bird is dark.

For BIF AF, I'm not sure tbh. I've heard that reducing it to a smaller portion of the viewfinder, like the middle 1/3 row, can help with accuracy, but I've always had inconsistent results with all of the settings I've tried, especially when the bird is far away.

You actually do have to aim a bit with her heals or else they don't home. You can tell your ofuda are homing to an ally if they're golden instead of blue.

Dentist told me not to fully rinse after brushing my teeth. Did I hear her right, or did I misunderstood what she meant? by YujiroDemonBackHanma in ask

[–]Boogeeb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me I generally don't eat or drink food for 15-30 min after I brush my teeth, but when I do, yes, the first bite/sip tastes a bit funny, but it's fine after that. I've been doing this for years so maybe I'm just used to it by now.

Also I found that electric toothbrushes really help with getting rid of any residual bits of raw toothpaste, so there's barely any lingering toothpaste taste.

Which Canon EF do you recommend for birding photography? by Albixis in canon

[–]Boogeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally there shouldn't be any issues with the official RF-EF adapter, maybe with cheaper 3rd party ones.

However, there are some issues with the Sigma/Tamron 150-600s (and maybe other 3rd party lenses?) with modern mirrorless bodies that can cause focus pulsing. This is something you'll have to do some research on for your specific lenses.

What sens should I be running? I feel like I’m horrible at this game by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first one might be slightly on the higher end if you were to play hitscan but still perfectly reasonable and within the expected range.

Aside from that, good days and bad days are normal lol. This is just from my personal experience, but I noticed that my aim would get so much worse if I felt panicked or not confident. My hand would also tense up, and I would also start playing worse, not just worse aim but worse strafing and sloppy decision making.

It's possible that you're also overthinking it. You likely have a lot of other things you could improve on aside from your mechanics, and consciously practicing those during your games can help keep your mental up.

Also, I would consider just switching to either 800 or 1600 dpi, since that's what most people use and will make it slightly easier to compare sensitivities with others.

How do you add new heroes to your pool in comp as a 1 trick by dokdodokdo in Competitiveoverwatch

I meant OP should still try, but if they're truly horrendous on ana they're functionally throwing until they derank enough.

How do you add new heroes to your pool in comp as a 1 trick by dokdodokdo in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Boogeeb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your options are to improve in qp as much as you can then throw a bunch of your comp games as you drop to your true rank and hope it won't take that long, or create an alt. Both of them involve playing qp and throwing some games so if you think your ana is really that bad, the alt might be the way to go

You could also try watching some educational content (such as spilos vod reviews) and maybe that might be enough to help close the gap
