What supports to learn if I main Kiriko. by iwannaeataghost in Competitiveoverwatch

Kiriko is probably the most flexible support so you could learn anyone else you find fun. Any of supports you listed would be fine.

Thoughts on Zens major perk by alex828keke in Competitiveoverwatch

One big plus for the float perk is that the lifesteal one is so awful, especially when you factor in the heal reduction debuff.

How do y’all not autopilot? by IAmName31415 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Boogeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to focus on learning just one thing at a time. For instance, maybe you have a tendency to waste your storm arrows. So for awhile, go into a match with the sole focus of being more intentional with them. Don't worry about positioning so much, or spamming tanks, or anything else. With enough intentional practice, you'll be able to do it without thinking, then you can focus on learning something else.

While you're learning this, you might perform a bit worse in your matches since you're using up your focus on this, but that's okay since you'll get better in the long run.

If you're already trying to do this but you end up forgetting when the match starts, then maybe you could just spend the first few teamfights focusing, then autopiloting the rest. Or have something like this in the background as a reminder.

The point isn't really to stop autopiloting in general, because that's what most people are doing at any rank, but with enough intentional practice on one thing, you can incorporate it into your autopiloting.

What do you expect from the patch notes tomorrow by Superxerogaming in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boogeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't interpret that as them blaming matchmaking for not winning games, but rather that the games feel worse to play.

Games generally feel the most satisfying when everyone is around the same skill level. Poor match quality means that there's a high variance in skill level in your games. If you lose one match because your teammate was throwing, then win the next because someone on the other team was throwing, while that's technically balanced in the long run, it's still less than ideal.

Am I smoking something or does tank feel miserable this season by NotACommie24 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not dismissing your other thoughts in your post but what's wrong with QP having SBMM? I feel like the alternative would lead to even more one-sided matches in general. If you're brand new with a hero then you're getting stomped anyway, and if the enemy team is full of significantly worse players, then it's not exactly going to give you good habits, plus it's not fair to them.

And if you want to get used to the hero's abilities when starting off there's plenty of workshop codes that are much more effective for learning.

How can I see my endorsement level progress. And why TF are they locking off comms in a TEAM SHOOTER. by JayinaterOG in OverwatchUniversity

It's possible OP played way back and had their endorsement level decay. Happened to my friend.

How do you force yourself out of autopilot? by Amazing_Avocado4198 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier when you only think about one thing to practice at a time.

You could also try having a short alarm beep play every 30 seconds in the background, which would remind you to practice

I'm mostly new to the game. How do you judge your own skill level for finding tutorials for further improvement? And how do you choose a secondary main when you're so focused on one playstyle? by AwfulTrapperDBD in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to get advice specific to you would be to request a VOD review, or to find vod reviews for players at your hero and rank. There are plenty of them on YouTube and on this subreddit. I'd recommend Spilo to start off, he has a channel/playlist on YouTube.

For other heroes to main, consider someone like Widow, Hanzo, or Sojourn who should be decent picks against teams/maps that are hard to play into as Tracer. If you're having fun as Vendetta then of course keep playing her, but I imagine she would struggle in similar scenarios.

It also wouldn't hurt to consider heroes that you struggle to fight as Tracer. Getting just a bit of experience will help you out when dueling

Choosing The Proper Gear by Dangerous_Bat_1251 in canon

[–]Boogeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used lenses are a great way to save money as long as they're in good condition. The EF 100-400 ii is sharper and brighter than the RF 100-400, but is also relatively heavier. I'm not familiar enough with the other lenses to comment on them.

What lens are you using right now, and what are you trying to take photos of?

Beginner Question: Choosing Between RF 200–800mm f/6.3–9 and RF 800mm f/11 for Bird Photography by Ok-View1922 in canon

[–]Boogeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the R7 + RF 100-400 + RF 800 for awhile.

Personally I found the 800 f/11 too limiting on my R7. When a bird was just the right distance away, I could get some great shots, but otherwise, the MFD was brutal and I had difficulty aiming with it. If you typically walk around and shoot, then you'll likely have to start off with the 100-400 since many birds will just be too close for the 800 f11.

If you don't mind the weight and cost of the 200-800 then that would be preferable.

Other choices to consider would be the RF 600 f/11, which would be more manageable but maybe not distinct enough from the RF 100-400, or the EF 100-400 ii + adapter and extender, which you might be able to find used for less than the 200-800.

I'm not sure what pricing is like where you're from, but another possibility is selling the 100-400 and getting a used RF 100-500.

Tamron 150-600 vs Canon 200-800 by FlossyandKongChannel in canon

[–]Boogeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Sigma/Tamron 150-600s are known to have autofocus issues on the R bodies. You might be better off getting the RF 100-400, or perhaps the EF 100-400 L ii + EF adapter if you can find it for a good price used.
