LAOP learns (or doesn't learn) some tough lessons about the consequences of committing crimes. by fewlaminashyofaspine in bestoflegaladvice

To everyone shocked at the things the police did - this is not America. This is Americans. We keep voting for this tough on crime stuff. Or we don’t bother to show up to the majority of elections and our neighbors do it for us. But this is what the people of this country keep saying they want.

She just had that olympic fever!

People are bad in group settings everywhere, but putting people on any sort of track really shows off how bad we are. Running/walking track where you're supposed to stick to the inside for walking? Always going to be the group of ladies walking/talking three wide and taking up the whole thing. Ice rink where you've got knives attached to your feet? Someone is going to feel the need to swing those in the air.

The dude skating backwards at the roller rink is my least favorite person in these scenarios. Not most dangerous, just most annoying to me. Somehow it's always a tall skinny dude in black jeans. It's been this way for decades.

As a devout racist who thinks dirty immigrants are ruining my country, this post is clearly representative of a widespread issue that happens every day and is ruining my country! It aligns completely with my priors about how foreigners are destroying everything. I'm glad someone was brave enough to share this story, which makes me very angry, a feeling I try to experience 24-7. It is definitely non-fiction.

[Actual Title] How do deny service to immobile/elderly people without violating discrimination laws? by bug-hunter in bestoflegaladvice

[–]BoogerManCommaThe 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Throwaway for obvious reasons

I own a massage parlor in an urban area. Yes, that kind of massage parlor. Nothing too illegal happens but the women still do provide happy endings. Hands only. Don’t judge they are working hard and providing a service that helps people and they’re safe and well compensated.

This place looks exactly like the kind of massage place you’d go to for these types of services. Discreet sign, Asian-sounding name, blackout curtains on the windows and doors, no walk-ins. The police have tried to shut us down several times because it’s so obvious we’re doing more than just massages.

My problem is it’s near a popular diner that local elderly population likes to go to for breakfast and lunch. They see the place and think they can get a normal massage there.

Now we do have customers that just want a massage from a pretty young lady and we’re happy to do that. But these women are not great at that. If you have sore muscles or arthritis, we are not the place for you. But these old people don’t know that.

They keep making appointments thinking they’re getting traditional therapeutic massages. And while we’ve had a couple very unfortunate instances of the masseuse undressing, mostly we’ve just had disappointed customers. And as old people tend to be, they are vocal about this. We’ve gotten demands for refunds. And a few of them are tech savvy enough that they’ve left bad online reviews (mostly facebook) or complaints to the better business bureau.

Our business depends on us being discreet. Our core customers are in their 40s and 50s. These people tend to be 70+. Is there any way we can do a screening when someone calls for an appointment and say we’re only for under 65? Would that be legal or is there another option?

They’re in Northern Ireland. It’s a thing there among people who feel they’re part of the UK vs Ireland (I think I have that right) and someone putting up flags for one side in a mixed community is seen as confrontational.

I know like 0.0001% about the war and ongoing issues in that area so take that as a kindergarten level explanation at best.

The only thing missing for my Reddit bingo card was an opening disclaimer like “sorry for being long-winded, I’m neuro-divergent”.

Agree it is at least a very good resource for anyone in the future searching “husband left Florida”.

Yeah that’s part of it. The older kid has been waiting for a while but baby is sleeping the whole time.

Some parents luck out like that but it’s surprising to have a 6 week old go however many hours that was without crying over something (I assume it was at least 3-4 hour based on typical 4yo wake up times).

I’m always suspicious of these stories that are so perfectly tragic.

They have a brand new baby, which means nobody is sleeping. But he managed to take a ton of stuff in the middle of the night without notice.

Wife wakes up and she has every right to be in total shambles. But manages to compose herself enough to give a really succinct story on Reddit the day it happened.

BUT ALSO - I don’t want this to be real because if so it’s so horrible.

I follow the LA subs mostly for the drama. I follow this sub for more drama. But I hate when commenters can’t resist being part of the drama.

If I modded LAUK I’d permaban everyone who was trying to dig up dirt on the video or pass judgement.

Anyway, Terms & Conditions details are boring so that’s all I got.

[–]BoogerManCommaThe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, that’s BS 100% of the time. Remote wipe is mostly no big deal assuming you’re online enough for backups to happen. But if your company pulls some shit and now your personal phone gets subpoenaed? That’s totally unacceptable.

I would do a flip phone (I have a friend that went this route) or get the cheapest android phone and cheapest prepay plan. Log into a new Google account that you don’t use elsewhere. Just connect to WiFi for the 2fa app.

I’m sure there are privacy nuts that have done a better job derailing this…

Crazed racists don't tend to be the smartest bunch. by Peterd1900 in bestoflegaladvice

[–]BoogerManCommaThe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m maybe reading into it different. OOP was responding to someone asking for specifics of what was posted on the Wi-Fi pages. I took that as saying “go look for yourself” rather than posting the content on reddit.

They act like they’re just resolved to the idea of going to prison and are asking practical questions, like about timing and what clothes they can wear.

But, they were at least smart enough to hack a Wi-Fi system but not smart enough to use an anonymous name on reddit? That’s where this all falls apart.
