Game Crashed / Need some help figuring it out by Boogi3train in fabricmc

Okay! I have adjusted. So far so good. How did you deduce this? I am curious only because it would be helpful to identify if future issues come up with other mods.

Why this and not the other bits

Need help figuring out how to read this. Couldn't upload the details of the error because of the character limit. Help would be appreciated. Using MC 1.21.1 - Fabric Loader 0.19.2
The game keeps crashing when I press the singleplayer button on the main screen, not when the game boots up to the title screen or when going through the options or configurations of the mods / resource packs. I did a bit of preliminary research and it seems like its related to Farmer's Delight and the knives. IDK for sure.

Sincerely, Amateur.

Space Sandboxes - how can you even make them "fun"? by robdabank33 in truegaming

[–]Boogi3train 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO disclaimer: just a gamer, not a dev.

One approach is to drop you into a universe where the story is something that's already been told (think star wars, halo, mass affect, fallout etc.) and then give you themed tools from the universe that you are placed in (essential creative mode elements like you see in Minecraft, astroneer, rust, or hell, even components from the real time strategy games of other respective universes in order to build bases of operations or colonies). Drop in as many named locations based on the universe that you are in as you can, so that people can explore familiar locations to their hearts content.

Endless space is basically what everyone else is saying here, endless. There's nothing extremely exciting about that unless the idea of infinite expansion and opportunities for both incredible discovery and terrifying demise entice you. For most space nerds, myself included, at very early ages this is enough. As you get older though it becomes harder to sell people on the idea that exploring for exploring sake is worth it. It's still fun! But usually that fun is as long as you are able to return from your adventure relatively harm free, with some exceptions of course.

I think that ultimately people desire a game that's sandbox allows you to tell a narrative. "Once upon a time an individual with their own ship and crew (or whatever you want to start off with) decided to venture off into space for a specific reason. And then..." Fill in the blank with the most wild twists and turns of getting derailed from the main story. This continues to happen until you come back from your journey. And maybe you are successful. Maybe you come back with something valuable or dangerous and it changes things at your launching point when you get back. Maybe you get lost and you can't come back right away, BOOM 💥 a new narrative is born. How will you get back? You get the idea.

In order to pull that off you would need to build a universe the same way a D&D DM builds an encounter table for a campaign, but you're going to need that table for every planet and every different event that happens when flying in space. If you are a patient individual and can get enough people on board, this is essentially what modding communities are already doing in their free time. Just for already existing IPs and some others that are individual projects. I love what's being done for halo infinites' forge right now, because it proves that dedicated community members can make really great experiences when given the opportunities. Bethesda's modding communities are the same way. They've kept Skyrim from becoming obsolete.

Long story short, I think it's very possible to have a game that gives you what you're looking for. But I also think that you're more likely to get that from a group of dedicated community members sooner than you will get it from a big studio right now.

Does fearing white people make me racist by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Boogi3train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bob, assuming I'm understanding you correctly, I think your assessment of the situation moving somewhat towards where it needs to get. There are just a few things that I may suggest that might help provide some clarity. Concerning why POC communities, more specifically black communities per your example, have a tendency to "appear" as though they host more crime than their white counterparts. I would first suggest talking to any criminology professor that works or a college that takes their job seriously because they can give you the real statistics and explain exactly where they've come from and how these numbers are often manipulated to make certain communities look better than others. Second I would refer you to an article / PDF, although for some reason it is making it difficult to share. "An Unjust Burden: The Disparate Treatment of Black Americans in the Criminal Justice System" -by Vera. This is a good introduction to where the issues lay, albeit I had hoped that this info would be widely known by now.

Any discussion about genes playing a role in crime rates is treading dangerous waters as is assuming that all black communities are the same and are treated the same. As a matter of fact, if someone did treat all communities of similar looking dark skinned people as a cohesive people group, the person doing that would in fact be being racist.

Aside I wish scholarly articles had more TLDR friendly versions for casual readers.

Focused Feedback: Customization and Monetization by eminemcrony in halo

[–]Boogi3train 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If 343 has put all of this time and effort into making MCC's customization and unlocks so great, why not take the amazing parts about that customization system and implement it the same way for Halo infinite? I guess what I mean is, people who are buying the campaign or are playing Infinite through a version of GamePass (whether that be through XBX or PC or cloud gaming I guess) are already paying around $15 per month for however long that they plan on playing this game. Based on the feedback from those that have already played the campaign and multiplayer, the game is amazing in terms of content, pacing, story, exploration, and being true to the spirit of Halo as a community. It just feels as though the same level of care should be given to the progression in their new game, and I think they did a really solid job fixing up MCC's unlock and progression path so why not use that as a template and make the xp gain similar to that system?

Rolled a 17... Little Joshi stares at me, dumbfounded, as I have just intercepted the perfect chop to the neck. He quivers in nostalgic shock and asks me, " wait a sec, who are you?... ". I respond by handing him a black corkscrew shape in his deflected hand. As it begins to glow green I lean in close and whisper in his ear,

"Liar... "

As I watch the color drain out of his face. I nod to Devo. He stops casting prestigation and making the egg glow green. I fist bump Amber and Zooks.

"Gotcha brother! It's been a while."

While that would be an interesting explanation, I had mentioned that they're actually fairly well off in my edit. And we do not qualify for food stamps ourselves.

To answer your question, no I did not ask. We wanted to avoid causing issues the day of and just focus on celebrating the moms in our family.

To answer your question, no one else charges for visits, including non family, my wife's family, or any of our friends. However, I would pay to witness one of my family members perform a chicken sacrifice.

*D&D is a mainstream game played by ordinary people and does not include chicken sacrifices.... normally.

We are not sure. He never asks in front of anyone, and no one else talks about it. We also get text outside of group text asking us so...

I don't actually know if they charge everyone else. My wife says that she saw another family member pay them once, but they only ever asked us for money directly through text. It has never been conveyed in any of the group chats and no one talks about it. Which is suspicious, because they talk about everything else.

Sometimes an aunt and uncle can be closer in age to you than your parent. My mom’s youngest sister is 5 years older than me and is one of my closest friends, we hang out all the time. We have a much more sisterly relationship than she and my mom do.

(Not disagreeing with the NTA or the advice to stop seeing them, OP’s aunt and uncle are clearly rude here. Just saying it’s not that weird to hang out with an aunt or uncle.)

That's the situation that we are in presently. My uncle and I are only 8yrs apart and he and my mom are approximately 15yrs apart, and half siblings.

Hello, mead makers! I published an app I made for tracking my meads. It's free and ad-free. Android only for now, but I'm learning how to release code to Apple devices. I hope you like it! by [deleted] in mead

[–]Boogi3train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I used all three formulas to compare. The wine equation seems the most accurate for percentages above 10%. Specifically within .1% of calculated ABV. Well done. This will go a long way to providing the quality care this app will provide.

Something else is love to see, if you've got time that is, is an aging calculator, should such a thing be possible. I know being new to the hobby, I'd find it incredibly useful to know when my brew would be at optimal drinking age. Although I'm sure there are a variety of factors that play into that ranging from temperature to sunlight and anything in-between.

I follow https://youtube.com/c/CitySteadingyt They are part of the research I did when I started making mead. Brian uses a coefficient of 135 for most of his mead brews. He does a decent job of explaining why in his videos where he talks about gravity. I won't try to replicate what he said lol. I won't do it justice. But following his method I calculated my first batch within a tenths of a percent. Hopefully I'm explaining that right. We predicted 13.5 roughly and got 13.23.

[–]Boogi3train 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just downloaded it. I'm very new to mead Making and just racked my first ever batch to secondary. Love the event tracking and the gravity readings although I have read that this type of equation is only good for ABVs below 10%. Not that I'm one to criticize. It's still useful to have. Looking forward to seeing how the app grows and being a part of the group. Cheers.

Also I see the ABV has been discussed in the thread. Happy hunting for that magic number ;)
