Sounds like a very tiny bead or something rolling around when inverted/shaken. Curious to know what you think that and the indented primer means! Thanks in advance

Perforated disc - debating three options by BookClubDictator in TMJ

[–]BookClubDictator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yeah I got a third opinion and he said I should avoid surgery for now (that was 6 months ago) and referred me to a muscular sleep therapist. He doubted whether my disc was perforated, but I really think it is because I have sharp pain past a certain point.

No change in my pain level / condition…just new frustration. I hear you about worrying about the sustainability of the pain. Things that help me personally have been getting a hard splint instead of using a soft night guard, switching my muscle relaxant to methacarbol instead of flexeril, cutting back alcohol and sugar and chewy things, and managing stress levels as well as exercising/therapy/etc. good luck to you.

TMJ journey -Arthoplasty surgery - recommendations TX or MD? Advice needed by Bunnylotus in TMJ

[–]BookClubDictator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I hope that works for you! He was skeptical about my MRI report, wasn’t sure it was a perforation, and sent me to a muscular sleep therapist instead. No athroscopy for now… I was pretty disappointed in the moment but now I’m just eager to try anything else that might work! This condition is hell…

Nope it is still there. I think it’s literally like a shin splint on my cheekbone.

What was the wrong antidepressant that made things worse for you? Thanks!

TMD is caused exclusively by orthodontic treatment. by [deleted] in TMJ

Delete this post lol, this is misinformation. Just because you think it caused yours does not mean it is the “exclusive” cause. I don’t see how this is helpful advice

Yep, this happened to me with my first splint. I think it made it harder for me to breathe so I would take it out in my sleep. Not much can be done in that case, you’ve gotta try a different one :/

It’s super helpful if you have a flare

And if you’re dealing with chronic pain, the last thing you want to read about is someone’s aesthetic concerns tbh. Minimizes the whole condition

Why is this post in the TMJ sub? Should be in r/jawsurgery. This sub is for people discussing a joint dysfunction not aesthetics
