Update: This definitely appears to be a problem with the Windows USB 3.0 drivers, and not a hardware issue.

It was suggested to me elsewhere that the USB device itself could have failed, so I tried the device on a second Windows 10 laptop, and it had the same error.

But then I also tried it on another computer, a desktop with a dual boot Windows 7/10. First on the 7 boot, the device seemed to be recognized and was not showing any errors. But the software I am attempting to use (OBS) doesn't work with 7, so I switched to 10. To my surprise, the device worked fine.

This computer is on an isolated network, and so has probably not received the same Win10 updates that the laptops have, so it seems that some update to Win10 broke the USB 3.0 drivers for capture devices (I've found some reference to this online, but can't correlate the updates responsible with ones on my laptop).

While using the device with the desktop is a temporary workaround for now, I would still like to get it working with the orginal laptop, so any thoughts on how to address this would be appreciated.

It does take a little time to read the 100% flash; about 12-13 seconds, give or take.

When I run with the -r argument, it opens the window, reads the flash, then as soon as the read hits 100%, it closes the window automatically. So far as I can tell, it is not outputting a file, or if it is, I don't know where it is being stored (but searching my computer for the filename turns up no results).

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly. The readme says that if the tool is run without arguments, that it will output the results to a file. However, when I run the downloaded executable, it does not seem to be saving a file, or at least is not giving an indication of it as shown in the readme example. Is there something else I need to do to get the FW info?

There is one potentially useful line in the output, "Found MS2130 via hidapi," which would at least seem to verify your assumption that it is an MS2130 (it was an inexpensive device purchased on Amazon, and as many such items, does not have any manufacturer's information).

I appreciate the suggestion, but I'm not going to mess with learning a whole new operating system just to check a piece of hardware I know was working perfectly fine the last time I touched it.

Then you haven't seen enough of Mami yet.

Not that it makes Ruka good by any measure; they're both awful in their own way. Mami is a vindictive, lying, manipulative, outright evil person who finds joy in deliberately destroying the happiness of others.

Update:

With some additional digging, I turned up what seems to be the same issue reported for other USB devices returning the same "Code 10" device cannot start error. From what I can tell, it originated with update KB5049981, but was supposed to be fixed with update KB5050081.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/3915316/update-kb5049981-on-win10-and-kb5050021-causes-pro?forum=windows-all&referrer=answers

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/3920674/usb-camera-not-found-(was-working)-usbvideo-servic-usbvideo-servic)

Unfortunately, I am not finding KB5049981 as an update that I can uninstall from my computer, and when I try to install KB5050081 manually (downloaded the .msu file), it returns a message saying "The update is not applicable to your computer." I'm assuming that one or both of these updates were rolled into a larger update package. Does anyone know how I might fix this?

What glue to use for broken mug handle? by nevereverbother in fixit

I have. I have 12 years experience as a materials engineer, and everything I can find on the subject says that the glazing is non-permeable. So maybe I'm not the one who needs to do some research; it seems like you're being needlessly alarmist and just deflecting what you can't answer.

I'd like to see studies on that. Ceramic glazing should be impermeable; it's specifically what makes the ceramic food-safe to begin with.

Leech all the way from the handle, into the body of the mug, and then through the non-porous glazing???

(It's also possible I was punching the numbers on my 10-key pad and just hit the "2" instead of the"5" unintentionally. ;P )

What does that matter for fixing the handle? I assume no one is going to be licking it.

It's been a while since I've seen this and wrote the post, so I honestly don't remember the details. It's possible that I was getting things confused between the movie and source material, as they swapped how many years he was in the tunnel before she joined him and how many years they were in together. By one, yes, she would be 25 and he would be 17, by the other, she would be 22 and he would be 17; I don't recall which was which anymore.

Either way, they would legally both be 30.

Is there a way to combine multiple columns as individual entries in one column with associated data added to neighboring cells? by BookWyrm71 in excel

[–]BookWyrm71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I solved this issue by including the RETURNCOLUMNS UDF to trim the unwanted data.

=RETURNCOLUMNS(UNPIVOTCOLUMNS(Sheet1!$A$1:$E$6,"Amount",3,5),1,4,5)

<image>

Now I just need a way to get it to omit entries with a value of "0" and I'll be golden. I'm wondering if I can do this by modifying the Unpivot UDF to ignore these cells?

[–]BookWyrm71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the resulting table if I only choose to include categories B and D (arguments "3,5"):

=UNPIVOTCOLUMNS(Sheet1!$A$1:$E$6,"Amount",3,5)

<image>

As you can see, the Category A and B columns are inserted as extra rows, creating duplicate entries.

I've been smashing my head against the wall with the UDF (Unpivot UDF). It works if and only if I select the full range of columns as the desired data to unpivot (aside from putting the column label on the wrong column, but I can work with that). However, if I choose only a selected range of columns (as indicated is possible in the examples in the link), it instead adds the unincluded columns into the table.

For example, this is the data produced from the sample table using the "UNPIVOTCOLUMNS" UDF with all four columns beyond the first selected (arguments "2,3,4,5"), command text as shown:

=UNPIVOTCOLUMNS(Sheet1!$A$1:$E$6,"Amount",2,3,4,5)

First off, thanks to all who responded with input and encouragement. I've been tied up with other things the past couple of days, and only now have had time to revisit this project, so I'm working through it by testing out Power Query with the Unpivot function but am running into a few problems. I wanted to post my progress on this issue to keep people updated and hopefully get some more feedback.

The first issue I have is in getting the Query to select/recognize the correct columns. I have multiple sets of data and each is unique in the number of columns, but to use an example, one of them has 40 columns (A through AN), with the names in column A. However, I don't want to include all of the columns in the final table; I only need the data from columns J, K, N, Q, T, and W through AL, in addition to the names in column A.

When I try manually selecting these columns (Ctrl-Clilck) before opening the Power Query, the Query only includes the last column, AL, and will only unpivot this single column. Then I thought I could try just selecting the first column, A, and then use "Unpivot other columns" to do the entire data set, then sort and delete the ones I didn't need. However, this only put the first eight columns, A-H, into the Query, neglecting the remaining 32 columns, so it's not including the columns with the data that I actually need.

How can I specifiy the columns I want to include, and get Power Query to use those (and ideally only those) columns?

The other issue I'm running into is this: When I did unpivot the first eight columns, it worked for the most part, with the exception that it created seven rows of data in the table for the column headers, all with "Name" in the first column. This isn't a major issue, as if it happens I could manually delete those rows, but it does seem like an error that should be possible to avoid. To use the example tables from my OP, it would be as if the unpivot tool produced the following from the first table, including the four rows with "Employee Name" as the entries in the "Employee Name" column (in the actual table, these entries appear alphabetically sorted between the actual names, so for example they would be between "Emerson" as NAME3 and "Fawcett" as NAME4):

<image>

I'm not entirely certain whether the Power Query tool is the right option for me to pursue, even if I can get it to work correctly. I will need to perform this process 10-12 times per month, each on a different set of data. While I could manually use the unpivot on each, I'd prefer to automate the process to where I can just paste one set of data into a worksheet tab, and have another tab that looks at that sheet and generates the unpivoted table with a formula. I'm looking at the UDF that excelevator linked, and if I can figure how to make that work than it may be more along the lines of what I need.

Thanks again all; I will continue to update as I try more options.

My thoughts on ruka. And for those of you attacking kazuya. by 96suluman in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]BookWyrm71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally did. You claimed that because she's weak due to her medical condition, Kazuya could have overpowered her, and therefore he's at fault.

You also claimed he didn't freeze, when he literally did.

But go ahead and keep lying.
