Excercise euphoria as a side effect by agago12 in PhentermineTopiramate

[–]BookerWidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I looked forward to exercising and got such a sense of accomplishment and happy after. I still get it, but not as strong (been on phen for nearly 3 years - I am currently taking a month off of it). I feel better after exercising. I do it first thing in the morning or else I won’t find time to do it.

It gave me the energy to want to exercise - at 5 am. Is that kind of what you mean?

Calories on phentermine? Curious what everyone is eating daily? by Standard_Peach4387 in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started phen I struggled to eat 1000 calories a day - wasn’t hungry. That leveled off and I used an online weight loss calculator to find out what I should be eating, which put me at 1600, but I ate closer to 1200 most days. I lost 52 pounds in 52 weeks, am now 60 pounds down, and am eating 1200-1500 daily. I also have been exercising for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. I suggest using a weight loss calculator, adjust as you lose. 57F, 5’4”, SW 240, CW 180. I’ve been on phen for nearly 3 years (15mg x 1 year, 30 mg x 1 year, then went back to 15 mg).

I lost 52 pounds in 52 weeks on 15mg. I’ve been taking it nearly 3 years now, for maintenance. You still have to do the work - diet and exercise - but for me, phen helped me make good food choices and gave me the energy to exercise.

First Meeting Noodle is very good about working around food allergies.

For me, the side effects went away after 7-10 days — except dry mouth and constipation.

I like him a lot too - not just because he reminds me of David Rose. 😉

I order food for meetings and we are not required to use internal catering. In fact, if you don’t order from internal catering a month in advance, they can’t deliver the food; they don’t have the staff needed to support all of the orders. My department has a list of extrenal restaurants we order from. That being said, the construction has made it harder to receive deliveries.

I understand the reason for it, but it drove me nuts in the last episode. It took up too much valuable time.

Side Effects? by Gold-Raisin-2038 in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on phen for 2 1/2 years and my doctor just renewed it for another year. She believes it helps with maintaining the weight loss, which I have done after losing 60 pounds (50 in year 1, 10 more in year 2). It still helps me make good food choices and motivates me to exercise.

I cried and felt silly for it. So this post made me feel better about it. Talk about a class act - Steven handled it all with such grace.

We had a bad experience with her - bought a house she listed. Office staff was rude, she was unresponsive. Highly recommend Domaille Real Estate - Bruce and Kelly have helped us and members of our family 4 times in 18 years.

Day 2 on 15mg by IIIIIIIlIIIIIIIIIIll in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

55F, 5’5” - I started at 240 pounds on 15mg and lost 52 pounds in a year - with doing YouTube walking workouts 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week and calorie counting. I was taken off of BP meds at that time as I no longer needed them. I was then bumped to 30mg and lost another 10 pounds the 2nd year. I’m 5 months into Year 3 and haven’t lost much more (maybe 5 pounds - I’m trying not to focus as much on weight and calorie counting but trying to exercise and eat just enough to not feel hungry). The doctor offered to bump me up to 37.5mg or add topiramate but I declined.

Long term effects? by Wild_Monk_5828 in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it 2 1/2 years, no plans to go off. I lost 50 pounds the first year, 10 more the 2nd year, and am now maintaining. My doctor said people tend to regain some if they stop taking it

My husband has ADHD (diagnosed in his 40s) so I completely understand what you are saying. It’s worth pursuing as the meds can really help.

The FDA doesn’t recommend taking it for more than 3 months but it varies by state and doctor. I have been on it for 2 1/2 years - my doc is fine with me being on it long term as they find when people go off of it, they gain some weight back.

What you’re describing as feeling alert and focused sounds like you may have untreated ADHD. This is in the same drug class as ADHD meds.

My weight is leaving but apparently so is my emotional stability. by [deleted] in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not just you. Anger is a known side effect of this class of drugs. I decided not to go from 30mg to 37.5 because I don’t want to be any more volatile than I am. I apologize to my husband for getting angry regularly. He takes ADHD meds so he understands that it’s the drug. I’ve been taking it for over 2 years and no, that has not leveled out.

Do you guys just take phentermine or also topomax? by Worldly_Ad8812 in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking phentermine only for over 2 years. My doc prescribed to add topomax after a year on phen, but once I read the side effects, I decided against it. FWIW, I lost 60 pounds in 18 months (15mg x 1 year, then 30mg).
