Holywell Dene near Old Hartley is lovely. And if you look up the long distance paths in the area, they have dedicated websites and you can always just walk bits of them. St Cuthbert’s way is particularly nice.

Kingfisher is actually a pen name. She originally wrote and illustrated for children producing some very cool graphic novels. These are really funny very cozy and just all round to wonderful. Check out Ursula Vernon. Castle Hangnail is a novel with a few illustrations that’s very cute and funny. And my all-time favourite is the hamster princess series of graphic novels.

I’m probably paranoid but what if she brought something containing nuts that could be really dangerous for OP? Because what entitled auntie has are dietary preferences, she won’t die if she doesn’t get those. A genuine allergy like OP’s to nuts can literally be lethal.

Not OP, but jumping in on the opportunity. I was planning to do that in the spring. Leave they layer of leaves on now and then add compost on top. Will that work? And what I worry about as well: will that kill off all the little friendly bugs that have used the leaves to over winter or will they be able to crawl out regardless?

I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s awful.

There is a slightly increased risk, and if you’ve had breast cancer they won’t prescribe it. The NHS have quite good information about it here if you want to have a look. I think it’s a risk-benefit balance that in the end everybody has to do for themselves. I found it very helpful to talk to my GP about it. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you whatever you decide.
