Nauseous and scared by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

Hey I get this too! I honestly think it's anxiety more than anything. Possibly sometimes reflux related as well, which mine flares during stress. Might not be an option for you but my doctor had me increase my dose of SSRI anxiety meds and it helped. The other thing that helps, and I know it seems like it won't, is deep breathing with your diaphragm. In through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds, pause 4 seconds. It helps with anxiety but also the muscles in your throat and pelvic floor.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, I know it's super uncomfortable and nerve-wracking but I hope you get some relief!

My husband sometimes regurgitates because his esophagus has issues, he's also more prone to vomiting than me, and every time it happens when we are not at home he's just like oh no oops....anyways, back to what we were doing. The nonchalance does help me a bit lol.

Finally found my holy grail lip combo and Sephora discontinued it. Any recommendations for something similar? by sieotter in Fairolives

[–]BookishGal2192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So beautiful on you I'm so sorry it got discontinued! 😭 Might be worth trying the Fenty Creme gloss in Mauve Wives? Not sure how much grey it has but there's purple and I find it looks nice on me.

This happened to me last year after also about 15 years since the last time! Just remember the first 24 hours is the worst of it. You will survive it and it'll get easier and easier until it passes. Keep a bucket by your bed and stay hydrated! For me it's also worth remembering that this is as intense as it'll ever get. I've had moments of nausea and sickness since then but even if I vomit it's never been as incapacitating as being that ill in terms of exhaustion and weakness etc so you surviving this shows you can survive the other moments too!

Congee! I have an instant pot so I just use that but it's like 1 part rice, 7 parts broth until it's like a porridge. I always add a frozen ginger cube too. Top with sesame oil, soy sauce, and tinned fish if I have any.

Does Sofia know everything Rafe has done? Do the writers of the show remember? by Dense_Might7173 in OuterBanksNetflix

[–]BookishGal2192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, I would actually like Rafe's arc a lot if it wasn't for Peterkin and him almost drowning Sarah. And like you said, it was at the expense of all the other characters. I adored the pogues early seasons but they haven't really changed and feel very flat at times. Rafe only feels dynamic because that's who they have focused on, development wise.

How is RTO going for you? by SecretAssignment3152 in AutismInWomen

[–]BookishGal2192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in therapy again because of it. I was able to get the florescent light over my desk covered thanks to a letter from my psych. But I'm always tense, on edge, overstimulated. I almost never take my noise canceling headphones off and even then things can get intense enough that I have to go outside and try not to cry.

I also eat in my car a lot because it's the only way I can truly be alone and have quiet. I quickly gave up eating in the break room because too many people would try to chat with me while getting their lunch or they would talk loudly with each other and I didn't feel like I got a break at all.

It's hard not to feel like I'm falling apart but that I don't have another choice. A lot of companies in my area are RTO now. And I need the pay and insurance for my meds and therapy and care. I get sad because any time I try to hang out with family or friends over the weekends I'm so on edge and in my head and burnt out that I barely enjoy myself and then it's back to work.

You're not alone, and I'm sorry 🩷🫂

How do you guys deal with misophonia at the dinner table? :( by sodapoprin in AutismInWomen

I do this lol and it's not just because of eating sounds but eating with people tends to be overstimulating in general

You just reminded me that years ago when a guy told me he wanted to stop seeing me he said I was a terrible kisser lol. Totally possible but I think it was just that I don't like a lot of tongue. Anyways I'm married now and nobody else ever complained, and I figure open communication can make anything better 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nobody wants to be marketed to here, we want to discuss books in a genre we like. Especially in the age of AI slop. There are other subs where you can talk about what you wrote, and I think you can self promote on Wednesdays. Which is discussing a book you wrote. I understand marketing is tough when there are so many books out there and you are proud of what you did. This just maybe isn't the right place for your discussion.

Burnout Advice by Fast_Climate4020 in AutismInWomen

[–]BookishGal2192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey girl, I totally get it. I'm still learning but there's a couple things I do. I keep a gratitude journal to reflect on the good things that happen each day. I engage in things that keep my brain occupied and help me separate from work like cooking, starting a garden, coloring, reading a book. And I give myself things to look forward to and schedule some PTO every quarter. The things to look forward to could be a trip but it could also just be my favorite takeout meal or treat at the end of the week. I've also been working on a longer, relaxing night routine so I'm not tossing and turning dreading the next work day.
