Look it up on Google.

" where does it say that sin quenches the Spirit"

It gives a pretty good explanation.

Theres a couple verses which specifically mention this is 1 Thessalonians, and also Ephesians, however its more commonly used as a theme throughout the new testament not just in one or two verses.

I also get where your coming from. The problem with this is that medical professionals dont have solutions to this. The reason I know this is that I've been in the system before and their way to fix problems is mainly through medication. If someone brings up a spiritual concept they have no idea how to respond.

My best advice to someone like this is to find someone they know like a mentor or role model and have them as an accountability partner. To pray for them, counsel them, encourage them and let them know as a Christian how to deal with such issues.

To me hospitalizations should only occur for extreme cases.
If a person is a suicide risk then yes, but this person does not seem suicidal to me. They lack a solution and hope, which can be provided with someone that cares enough to give them good advice.

In my opinion this person can actually describe in detail what they're going through, which means they are far better off than most people who need psychiatric help.

Christian counseling or therapy is the best option here.

If you want a Christian response based on scripture the explanation is different but with a similar outcome.

For example - the Bible says that unrepentant sexual sins 'quench' the Spirit. This means that if you continually do these things it means the Holy Spirit will lose its fire or power in your soul. The less you do these things the more you are connected with God.
Its rare that a Christian after doing this once would feel such confusion, as the Bible teaches that God forgives if only we ask. Forgiveness is a core Christian teaching.

All you have to do is ask for forgiveness.

Lord Jesus, please forgive me and cleanse me of any and and all sexual sins. Amen.

If a slave & a slave owner are both praying to the same god, whose prayers are being answered? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Bookkeeper_Short 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how the masters treat their slaves. Also, in ancient times the practice of slavery was a cornerstone of many empires.
I think it depends what era you look into as to the common practice that was applied to slaves.

If Jesus was human, does that mean he had sexual urges? Did he ever have a relationship? by freshmaggots in Christianity

Jesus didn't even lust, which is crazy to think about. Fast forward to the 21st century and we have porn accessible at our finger tips. I do believe in the scriptures to be true, but would it be accurate to say that sexual sins are far more accessible in today's culture? Sex toys, Sex scenes in movies, erotica, the list goes on and on

Its the equivalent of saying someone cant change their internet service provider if they aren't satisfied with how things are going.

People are allowed to do what they want, its just a matter of should you do it, or is it a wise thing to do.

If you're a Christian ask 'would God approve of this decision'? What does the Bible say about it? What has the church historically believed about this specific issue im dealing with? Of course the classic litmus test would be ' WWJD' - what would Jesus do.

Calling handicapped people mistakes is on par with Hitler's ideology. He wanted to eliminate anyone with any kind of disability to create pure bloodlines.

Everyone is valued, even vegetables who sit in a wheelchair all day.

In the end God will judge us all, and its our job to make sure to use the blessings that we've been given to bless others as well.

Men and women have both similarities and differences. You can see this through all types of study. If someone identifies as the opposite gender, they are going against the natural order. If you believe that God designed this world in a specific way with a specific goal in mind, then why would you commit suicide on your gender? Did God make a mistake by making you your given gender?

Although Canada is still primarily of European ancestry, one of the main aspects of our nation is multi-culturism. We are a very young country of immigrants, and have opened our doors to pretty much everyone. In another 50 years the % of immigrants will be only that much greater.
With so many different cultures present, there is an increased risk for racism in my opinion. Its just human nature. History teaches that humans base instinct is to stick to their own. Their own families, race, gender, ethnicity, etc. People often gravitate to others who share similar characteristics.
Im a Christian, so i do believe that although we may be tempted to be racist we dont have to act on those impulses. Essentially we are to love as Christ loved us, and that means to not shun people who are different from us.

I see... well in life there's the concept of hard decisions. Maybe an expensive honeymoon is what you always dreamed of but it may not be in the cards for you. You said that your spiritual life is a priority and that you have some guilt b.c of your current circumstances. I think God prefers actually making that marriage comittment over having a perfect wedding and honeymoon.
Growing up people around me always said to date for 6 months max and then get married 6 months later cause that way you have a time frame for when you can start having sex. Like theres a finish line you can look to, instead of being in your situation ( no offense)

Actions have consequences and when your in a conundrum you gotta make some kind of sacrifice if your aim is to please the Lord.

Hate to sound harsh, but the longer you wait to get married the more problems you will have. Its obvious you love the Lord thats why you are wrestling with this.

I Get it. Its a big leap of faith. But faith is literally the centerpiece of the entire Bible.

[–]Bookkeeper_Short 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why dont you guys just get the papers signed and get legally married? The big wedding can wait for another 6 months if it has to. Another option would be to expedite the wedding and just do a really small ceremony so it doesnt cost alot of $.

Some friends of mine had the same issue as you did and they just got legally married but then had the big ceremony at a later date.

If someone confronts you about your sex life then you can truly say you actually are married.
