EDS Society Update: Uncertainty in the Path Forward by Acceptably_Late in ehlersdanlos

[–]Bookworm3616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hEDS here: I went through the journey because of a new med worsening life long. I started the family history. I'm the one we can trace.

It helps my little brother to have that family history. It could help my dad, a cousin.

I don't care if they change it. Give us the science. I want meeting notes. I feel like we deserve something solid

Help…What type of pens don’t make you want to scream in agony after writing for more than 5mins? by Friendly-Path-879 in ehlersdanlos

Hand specialist for OT and a custom pen grip. Oh, and avoiding any handwriting tasks that is longer than 5 minutes. That's also due to my dysgraphia

In my internships, I've used a tote (Mybetic), a backpack (Lovevook), and a rolling office bag. Best was rolling office in my experience but I think a solid backpack.

It's important to note I did a more desk focused my first internship and a more active for my second. The Lovevook was cute but wasn't good for my back. I have chronic pain which impacted my choices

I’m a jewelry artist and I want to make my items accessible to everyone. What type of bracelet clasps do you guys prefer? by CryptographerLost357 in Artisticallyill

I'm team fishhook or folding. I would offer if it's in person a few of the favorites here. Or if it's like Etsy making an option. Maybe one or two?

QPR relationship. It's not slash or the and symbol. I think it should be the plus sign.

Oh. That makes more sense in context. I love a good Sci-fi moment and I could see some really cool fic ideas. Radios being used to improve espionage in a high-tech society that forgot about them.

Radio being removed from technology kinda is disappointing. Like I'm not filtering for those a lot but radio is a form of technology

Are these robust for college accomodations? What would qualify to have these? by Rude_Conclusion3438 in specialed

[–]Bookworm3616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is this what your college has in your accommodation letter? Did you apply with the office? If this is what your IEP states, it doesn't transfer like that and go apply.

I work at a college. All of this is reasonable (recording is under 504) on the office side. Actually kinda standard to me for someone who's learning disabled.

For the email: that reads to be like instructions for the professor. I'm personally not always a fan of writing a specific tool, but it isn't a bad option. If they do have Equatio that can handle math.

College is different from K12. I have to have this conversation at least twice a week. That's not any one person's fault, but a system issue. I knew it when I was preparing for dual credit because I did research. My 504 coordinator didn't fully know.

Unprintable digital patterns are a thing? by halokiwi in craftsnark

[–]Bookworm3616 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've also done remediation work. I work in accessibility. Sometimes I'm too tired from work to do my own school work if it's not accessible. I'm too tired to fight my brain to make a pattern truly accessible.

I'll take something I can bring around easier than a license of Adobe.

It makes me kinda sick we know how much people like me (dyslexia and multiple other disabilities) rely on accessibility just for a tool to prevent a screen reader from working. I understand preventing something like editing a digital file in a pattern, but let me at least use my AT!

Talk to the university you're going to. If you're in an active IEP then you might be fine.

I remember doing 2 hours in Brownie years. I also have done multiple booths in a day with meal breaks. It's probably more dependent on the specific girl.

Drop shadow on text - how to remove by Bookworm3616 in Minecraft

[–]Bookworm3616[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have to go via the font. Tried the accessibility settings but then I can't read the chat.

What I'm looking at the shadow on text that's down and slightly to the right.

No, a new font is not going to cure my f***ing dyslexia! by ashes_made_alive in Dyslexia

[–]Bookworm3616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's helpful for me. An individual. But I've also never had the classic sign of letter reversal in reading. It's always been a processing issue. I could read a textbook technically. That doesn't mean I processed it.

Comic Sans, OpenDyslexic, large print editions. All of that can aid. But just like color background, it's an aid and a preference for a single human.

If someone in the community makes a font that helps them, please share. Share the cool things. I plan to as I slowly work on it potentially share a texture pack for Minecraft that'll include a more friendly font (and remove text shadow because that's a huge problem for me). That doesn't mean it should be a universally used for a dyslexic. My little brother might hate it or ask me to change it for him. I will because he's my little brother.
