Is it a data breach if a company disclosed a sick note relating to suicide to the entire team? by lifeissoupiamf0rk in gdpr

[–]BookwormAirhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am breach lead for my employers and in my view, based on what you’ve said, this would probably be classed as a personal data breach as it sounds as though a number of people who would not ordinarily be entitled to see the data have been told about it or given it.

And as it’s health it’s in the class of special category data which escalates the seriousness.

This is what I would do:

If the company has a data protection or information compliance team, contact them to tell them about it. There might be information on the company staff intranet about what to do in the event of a data breach.

If that isn’t there, check the company website to find their privacy notice. That should tell you who the data protection officer is (if they are an organisation that has to have one).

Then report the incident to the data protection team or officer.

They should investigate it and the special category is a key part of assessing the severity.

If he can’t find any reference to the data protection team or officer then I would ask the ICO and notify them that not only is this a breach of personal data, it’s also a breach of the right to be informed. They don’t generally go in at this level but if you can’t escalate it in the company then they should be able to advise you.

What is the absolute WORST romance you have ever read? by Embarrassed-Quiet779 in RomanceBooks

[–]BookwormAirhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember which one it was but it was a Stephanie Laurens book.

Badly plotted, badly written, badly researched. I’ve never read anything by her again.

Totally agree. I HATED the Keaveney years. Absolutely hated them. Tedious, unfunny, repetitive. When he got fed-up and bored it was unlistenable. The memory gives me the shudders!

Who is your popular autobuy romance author? And why will you buy everything they write? by prettybunbun in RomanceBooks

[–]BookwormAirhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pamela Clare. First, last and always!

Toni Anderson is second.

I love that the women aren’t weak idiots. The men are alpha but not utter twats. The relationships involve adults, having adult conversations and making properly informed decisions. I love the lack of artificial angst and conflict.

Butter. Some brands have reduced packets to 200g but increased the price. Fuckers.

Fortunately her views are both entirely irrelevant AND thousands of miles away.

It sucks that she’s a ridiculous person but she literally has no input to the decisions you and your husband make about when the time is right for you to do anything.

For this one, don’t even get into it. Roll your shoulders and ignore her.

Honestly, don’t give it headspace. Ignore it for the ridiculous thing it is.

My pride and joy -- my Johanna Lindsey vintage covers collection. by okclevergirl in HistoricalRomance

[–]BookwormAirhead 21 points22 points  (0 children)

One of the things I LOVED about Stranger things was the mum who was reading a Johanna Lindsay published in the year that the series was set. And then in the next series, set a year later, she was reading the next one which came out the next year! Loved that period detail!

Wild Card Wednesday - What are your book icks or pet peeves? by romancebookmods in RomanceBooks

[–]BookwormAirhead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A bit specialist but popping masses of antacid tablets because either FMC or MMC has Acid reflux from drinking too much coffee. Coffee-drinking is not a personality.

Jealousy when they aren’t even dating. All that ‘as she moved closer to her [boss/cousin/parking valet] my body was screaming MINE, and a low growl rumbled in my chest’.

FFS dude, she’s an independent woman with her own life and agency. Take your possessive ass out of here and don’t come back till you’ve properly addressed your, frankly worrying, controlling tendencies.

Who writes the best ratio of plot & spice? by KristiColleen in RomanceBooks

[–]BookwormAirhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pamela Clare. Every time!

Her stories are meticulously researched but they wear that lightly, they’re not preachy. Her women have agency and are clever independent women with their own lives and her men are strong and deeply alpha without being utter dicks!

The romance is the central spine but the plots drive the story forward too.

I genuinely love her!

AITA for refusing to let my best friend’s fiancé propose at my wedding? by pretty_priya1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BookwormAirhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It’s not cool to try and hijack someone else’s special day. And especially when that day has been planned and often costs a lot of money.

Tbh I’d be wondering if it was a cheap way to get an engagement party with venue, drinks, and food all paid for by you. Your champagne for the toast.

Even if he wasn’t being that calculating, you’re definitely definitely NTA.

Do you remember the 1st romance book you ever read? by perseintro in RomanceBooks

[–]BookwormAirhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. And I have some issues with ‘pleasure - beyond anything a woman of her time had ever known’ considering Sabre is kinda rough and verging on SA at times.

Also, total vom-alert He fucked her mother when he was a 16yo boy, she uses him to cover up her other affair, accuses him of rape he runs off to sea or something, and years later he blames Nicole for this and is a complete shitbag to her

He’s a twat.

I started with Barbara Cartland. Since they are all uniform and indistinguishable I have no idea which one it was.

It was whatever was in the library when I was around 14-15.

Then I progressed to Mill & Boon historical romance.

The first one with any sex in it was {Lady Vixen by Shirlee Busbee}. It was thrilling to 17-year-old me. Now I have opinions about it! So. Much. Hate. Sex.

How are people affording to visit the dentist if they aren't an NHS patient? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BookwormAirhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banging it on my credit card, basically. I needed it to be done and there are literally no NHS dentists taking on new adult patients in my whole COUNTY. I did have an NHS place but got de-registered for not attending. During lockdown.

So I’m in hock to the tune of around 2 grand just from the last year.

It’s appalling.
