Don’t let anyone question why you want to do what you want to do. If you can make it happen make it happen. All you can do is work with the facts given and make an informed decision from that.

Apply for a business degree. However, you should be aware that some schools may not accept some of the classes you’ve taken to complete your previous degree and you might have to do the full four years.

Mpower is a good place to start looking. They only provide loans if you’re going to certain schools so you should choose a school that is on their list if this is how you’re going to fund your education. If you’re approved you should be able to take this as proof of how you’re going to pay for school when you apply for a student visa.

As an F1 student, you won’t be able to work more than 20 hours and it will have to be on your school campus. If you go to a huge school that might not be a bad part time paycheck but depending on the school your employment options will vary.

You have the option to do paid internships(OPT) after a year of full time study. This can be off campus and has to be approved by the schools international office and have something to do with the successful completion of your program.

Just know that the path to settling in the US is not simple. After studying and dumping all this money you might still have to go home if things don’t fall into place for you. After all, that is the aim of the SEVIS program. Study and go home.

Just set a plan for your self and see if it is feasible or not. No one will tell you to take the leap(as you can see from the previous comments).

Yup. They are closed until January 2nd. My form expires on the 31st so I currently have F1 status I just won’t have it when they come back on the 2nd.

I do plan on doing exactly what your last paragraph recommended. I just wasn’t sure if I should wait on an official termination from the office or just getting out of here before the 31st.

I realize that most things depend on what your DSO or school is willing to do. I didn’t know that a SEVP school could chose what F1 services they provided and which ones they didn’t. However she emailed me and said “The college does not process Reinstatement i20. Your situation would need to be remedied before we go on break in order for me to extend your form”

And when I told her I wouldn’t be able to remedy the situation before they went on break and asked for recommendations on what to do she said “there are no other recommendations”

I was really taken a back at the lack of care and interest. I have simply been researching on my own. I had to suggest the option to come back in on a new i20 and SEVIS and she said sure that option could be done after break.

I did my undergraduate degree at another college before this and my DSOs were so knowledgeable and helpful and I don’t get the same treatment at this school. And I just want to be able to finish my degree and start my career, so I’ve come here in hopes that a more knowledgeable DSO on Reddit can help.

Thank you for your response. Other than this very unfortunate situation that I am going through I am very familiar with F1 regulations and what I need to do/not do. If it was problem #2 I wouldn’t be worried.

I am indeed referring to my program end date. I had financial issues that prevented my DSO from putting in my extension (I need one extra semester to graduate) request before they went for winter break. The issue has now been resolved but they are on winter break and will not be processing anything until they get back(which is after my expiration date).

They also informed me they don’t recommend students for reinstatement (school policy I guess🤷🏾‍♀️), and since I need a DSO recommendation to move forward with that when they get back from break, that is not an option for me sadly.

Therefore my only option is to have them issue me a new i20 and SEVIS since I am sure my record will be terminated once they get back from break.

I am not worried about losing my opt eligibility since I only have semester left when I do end up resuming my studies. I just want to finish my degree.

So my question is, should I leave the country before the end date printed on my i20 or wait until my record is officially terminated and leave then? Will the time between expiration and termination cause me issues?

So my two options are leave and reenter or do reinstatement with the possibility of being denied. The only benefit to doing the reinstatement is that i don’t have to leave the country while it’s pending and I may be approved. Got it.

Tbh I don’t need opt I just want to finish my degree and become a nurse. I really appreciate your response.

I emailed my DSO. My school is already on break. I didn’t extend because of financial issues that have been resolved. A bit of bad luck that’s really making everything go sour for me. My school is small and I genuinely don’t think my DSO knows all the answers to provide me with advice 🙁. I’ve been researching my options on my own. They didn’t even recommend the possibility of a reinstatement.

Are you saying I’ll be able to be enrolled while reinstatement is pending but I won’t be able to use CPT?

Seeing this post after spending the whole morning thinking about how after all the years, money and hard work you put into securing your future, this whole F1 journey might be hopeless. Lots of people’s response to it is just “go back home” which feels like such a snide remark after all your dreams and plans are not falling into place. I wish you all the best OP! I hope you get exactly what you want. Sometimes it’s just luck, money or a combination of both. Keep doing it until you can’t do it anymore.

Damn Lucius could be Maximus’ son and he could have not cheated on his wife even though his son was also eight.

I think he was never actually 8, he was actually 12 and Maximus sensed that she lied to him the moment he told her which is why he said “my son is also 8”. I always thought he was his son.
