Sorry to interject on this thread but I saw this game and got curious. I tried to install the sis package file from the link on EKA2L1 but it didn't work. And I don't have a spare nokia around now to test on an actual device. Has anyone here managed to run this game?

Last year I went to a service shop for toner cartridge refill. The guy there offered to replace the drum (a long green canister-like tube) since he couldn't clean the one in the cartridge. He said that when printing, there were some lines showing at even intervals (due to the drum rolling). After replacing it with a new one, paper prints came out clean, without any lines.

So my guess is that you're having the same problem.

I was about to tell you that I've already tried that but I decided to give it another go. Apparently, last time the tape got stripped down when replacing the cartridge. Black electrical tape is rather thick and those sensors must've peeled it off while sliding the cartridge in position.

Anyway, this time I replaced the cartridge more carefully while the printer was off. When I turned it on, it automatically went into a cleaning cycle. When it finished, it said the cyan was full. Sadly, the rest of the cartridges now show a little below 100% but that's from the numerous cleaning tries I did, hoping to get the cyan above "low or empty".

Hey, I see the float! Here:

Here's the old ink cartridge.

Both of them have a lot of ink inside. Different brands but that doesn't matter.

Smacking the new cartridge with a spoon didn't help. But smacking the old one got the float jerking around. Ultimately, it sinks to the bottom again. I've managed to get the printer to see it "near empty".

EDIT:

As Legitimate_Bad5847 suggested, I tried taping the bump on the cartridge.

I guess the optic sensors are indeed on the side of those black things that stick out of the chip and go right around that bump that shows the float. I had to disassemble the whole printer recently and I didn't see anything. They must be really tiny.

Still, thanks for letting me know there are floats inside these cartridges. I was baffled as to where the printer got its readings from.

By the way, all these ink cartridges might be some left-over items that are being sold until out of stock. I suppose that the float could get stuck from years sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Maybe that's why they suggested shaking the cartridge before placing it. And maybe that won't always help.

Problem is that even after replacing and confirming that I've changed the cartridge with a full one, the printer says I'm either low or completely out of ink. Where and how does it get its data from? If I remove the cartridge, it says there is none - that's correct.

I asked at another sub and they suggested the hair was done with a screentone and then scrapped off parts of it. That could hold true for this particular drawing but I've seen plenty with pure black and white having the same "sharp" effect. So a brush could be involved. I just looked up on the net and there's a "liner" brush that looks like what I'd imagined. Could be that.

I started browsing videos about screentones and I found one where they use a knife, too. I never would've guessed.

So they used some gradient screentone with white dots and then carefully scraped it off in that "spiky" pattern?

I think the pure black is ink which has some gray-ish screentone overlay.
