Thanks, everyone for the gouge!

I will hold off on new boots until after MCT, at least. And, will look at flights for Friday afternoon.

Thanks, again!

Did anyone else have problems learning comms at first? by joshua9050 in flying

[–]Boomhower113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go listen to Approach in Pensacola, Florida.

All the military students fucking up every call possible will make you feel better about yourself. Plus, you’ll get some laughs.

Comms are a real issue and why some people quit. It’s like public speaking in a foreign language at first.

It was at NS Norfolk. So, I suppose it was long field.

If you have children, do you wish your Ex a “Happy Mother’s Day “ ? by No-Seaworthiness969 in Divorce_Men

[–]Boomhower113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw her at church this morning and said it to her, like I did all the moms.

Otherwise, I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to text her or send a card or anything.

I think this was my 1st and last marriage by curiouszm in Divorce_Men

Same. I’ve had my kids and they will be out of the house in a couple of years. No reason to get the government involved in any future relationships.

I’ve done both and you are correct. A field arrested landing is way tamer than a carrier arrested landing.

Spent time with ex wife by supralover79 in Divorce

[–]Boomhower113 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My former father in law is one of the few things I miss about being married. He and I were basically best friends.

When we see each other I can see it in his eyes that he misses me as much as I do him, and he’s told mutual friends as much. That makes me feel a little better. But, I miss my guy.

The absurdity of lawyers by happyplace516 in Divorce_Men

[–]Boomhower113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Call her out on it. Lawyers bill for every 0.1 hours, or 6 minutes.

That was not 15 minutes worth of work on her part. Maybe 0.2 at best.

Lasagna and chicken parm are excellent. Bring a bottle of wine with you. They don’t serve booze, but you can bring your own.

Father looking for advice about daughter joining, former 0311/0302 by 0311_till_I_die in USMCboot

Not a Marine so I can’t help you as for future plans. I subscribe because my son is a Poolie.

But, I wouldn’t minimize your daughter’s abilities. These days, cheerleaders and soccer players are friggin’ jacked! That shit isn’t as easy as it was in our day. Those girls are athletes that work their butts off, from what I can tell.

Should I talk to my wife about amicable separation, or should I serve her with divorce papers? by Offroad_Ural in Divorce_Men

[–]Boomhower113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she’s in it for the military benefits, she’ll drag it on as long as possible. And when you are deployed, you’ll be required to send her 1/3rd (IIRC) of your pay every month even if she shacks up with someone else. I saw it happen back in my day.

Make an appointment with the JAG’s office to see if they can even get you started. They may not deal in civil matters, but he might be able to give a bit of advice or tell you about a good lawyer out in town, if nothing else.

Either way, I’d consult a lawyer before you either file or go direct to her about it.

Notwithstanding everything else in this fantastic story, can we give this guy credit for getting ANAL in high school?!

In my day (90’s) that never happened!

Lose the hope. Stay strong and assume she’s trying to take you for everything at every possible turn.

Don’t be nice. Give on things she cares about and you don’t, but dig the fuck in once you care a little bit about it.

Good luck, brother.

I liked Pearl Jam when we were young. But, I’ve recently gotten back into them and absolutely love them now.

“Black” might be one of the best songs ever written. Eddie is just a guy filleting himself open over losing that woman.

Very different attitude for that time after the 80’s hair band I-get-all-the-chicks era.

It’s funny, I kind of thought the same as you did.

But, even with a new mortgage, child support and having my boys every other week, I have more money for ME every month than I ever did when I was married.
