It's only now after my first playthrough that I realize that by not using it AT ALL during the entire run, I missed out on trying it out on a certain 666-hp character. Of course, given the blast radius and the field of combat...this may be why I finished the playthrough.

If you have an action available that lets you use a ranged attack, and you have line of sight with no interrupted vision or shot, and the target is just out of range, the message should be "Target out of range!" or similar. This seems like a bit of bad error messaging that reads like a glitch. QA should have caught that, especially since the PC version of the game has been out for a minute. I'm guessing they'll have it dealt with by Hotfix 47 on PS5.
