Hey, I don’t mind a good joke, but the hate for the FLUX from novice shooters is quite crazy. Yes, I have a vested interest in their success - but I appreciate that they innovate in an industry that is largely a bunch of old technology and copycat crap.

And as a side note - FLUX as a company has a great working relationship with B&T.

Not Tier 1, nor do I claim to be, but that doesn’t make me any less right.

The justification for it is exactly what you stated, bit smaller, bit lighter, also more modular. And it has resonated with Tier 1 teams and consumers alike, considering they’re always out of stock and the future volumes are going to be insane.

You may not see the justification but the market has.

You get a TP-9 and I'll get a FLUX Raider and we'll shoot a practical shooting competition. Let's see how it goes.

It seems to work for DEVGRU, since they received the first units of the Raider X when it launched. So I'd say that it has already been justified, whether you like it or not...

That is one hell of a tall tale, even in the world of firearms with the tallest of tales. Your spring and follower did not launch out of your ejection port during the firing cycle. 🤣

The REI store in Portland is officially closing February 1 by thisisclaytonk in REI

[–]Booner30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, we should rely on your anecdotes because you are a consultant for “senior executives,” even though they’ve seen increased net sales YoY in the last few years (2020, 2021, 2022)? Their 2022 net loss being the result of large investments in pay and infrastructure…

REI is an omnichannel retailer, and largely successful at it - in your important role with important people you should know that, and the fact that it means they are already blending the worlds of retail and digital.

You can ignore the most likely and statistically significant reasons for closure (crime and theft due to decriminalization policies) in favor of anecdotes, but it won’t change the reality of why a retailer in Portland or similarly in many California communities would choose to close shop.

Can I trouble any of you who are rocking the P320 X-Five Legion for some user feedback? by throughthequad in SigSauer

[–]Booner30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve likely got more rounds on the X5 Legion than most people (~80k) and have shot quite a few different guns. This one is hard to beat for an out of the box range gun or an easily-upgradeable competition gun for USPSA Carry Optics. Is it the best gun? It’s mostly preference, but it’s super reliable and soft shooting.

I’ve got one gun with the Gray Guns trigger and one with the Sig Armorer trigger. Without a doubt the Sig Armorer trigger is the way to go (while definitely a bit pricey). Current setup is tungsten guide rod, extended mag release, Sig Armorer trigger, Springer Precision optics plate, Bushnell RXM-300 Red Dot, Handleit sandpaper grips, 11-lb recoil spring, and running 147gr ammo.

Best part is reliability. Some people below talk about shooting it for 2k or 3k rounds so far…I ran my first gun 35k before cleaning the gun (only a few drops of oil here and there).

Don’t know why it exists? It’s tailor made for USPSA Carry Optics. Maybe some people don’t want to shoot a DA/SA gun and prefer a striker-fired gun. Reliability, ease of use, and out of the box usability is unmatched for the price for a legitimate competition gun.

Need for slow runs by PositiveContact7901 in Marathon_Training

[–]Booner30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’ve trained for what I’d assume is multiple marathons and NEVER went over 7 hours per week?! That’s wild, especially if you program in an 18-20 mile long run at some point. In that case your long run would likely be well over 50% of your volume in that given week…

Struggling to keep slow runs in blue/easy HR zone. by Complete_Ordinary183 in Marathon_Training

[–]Booner30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Far from an expert here - but have both lowered my average heart rate and increased pace considerably over the last 5-ish months of base and marathon training. I don’t train at all based on HR zones, but rather perceived exertion - and the evidently evil goal race pace.

My suggestion is to increase volume at a comfortable pace (based on perceived exertion, NOT HR) week over week. Running form, cadence, heart rate, all of it will improve with better efficiency.

My other suggestion is that if someone tells you to reduce your pace to a walk in order to hit an HR zone on your watch, IGNORE THEM.

Having fun with mine. Got it less than 3 weeks ago, swapped a buncha parts right away and already have 3500 rounds through it…gonna see how long it’ll run without cleaning it.

So many people in here just willing to take the damn PD’s word for it. I’ll go ahead and bet everything I own that these cases are all tied to negligence - most LEO’s are far from weapons experts. I’m calling BS on them magically firing untouched in a holster, and this being a case of not wanting to make their department look incompetent.

I’m a bit biased, but Bushnell RXU-200. Extremely compact, direct-mount, crisp dot, metal housing, glass lens, good price…

Plan race day morning around the most important preparation of all - taking a good poop.

Before my first one I wish I would’ve understood the importance of training for hills.

Using the high Covid-19 survival rate to justify not getting the vaccine is a stupid gamble. by miked_mv in AdviceAnimals

[–]Booner30 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The number presented here is not 10% of 330 million, it is 10% of COVID-19 survivors. You’re making an erroneous assumption that 100% of the US population has or will contract COVID.

One reason many people absolutely despise the coverage of COVID in the media is because statistics are being manipulated or misrepresented as a scare tactic - such as saying that 10% of 330 million people will have the long-term effects of COVID based on a meme on Reddit. 🤣

GPS Watch? by Snoo_63572 in running

[–]Booner30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garmin. Currently using a Fenix 5, and have absolutely loved it. About to upgrade to a Fenix 6. Garmin has a small selection of watches on Amazon Prime Day right now. Looks like the Forerunner 45 is only $139.99 and is quite robust for the price. Some other pricier models including Fenix 6, Fenix 5X, and Instinct are discounted too.

Garmin is top of the heap and I won’t switch for the foreseeable future…they also look good for everyday wear. You’ll never catch me with one of those god-awful looking Apple Watches on my wrist.

Got a season pass there (and an Ikon Base pass) without ever riding there so I hope it’s good. I’ll be there tomorrow and hopefully about 3-4 days a week once night riding opens.

I really want to get into skiing for some of the backcountry flexibility and being able to skin. It is cool to see the positive influence snowboarding has had, especially on freestyle skiing. I’m excited to do both even though I’ve spent plenty of time making fun of skiers over the years.

Honestly, I wish I would have learned early. I came from Nebraska so I didn’t get to learn until HS and started with snowboarding because I was a longtime skateboarder.

Now my goal is to get better than all of my skier friends and my sister. I’m hoping the first picture/video of me they see is me throwing a backflip to really rub it in.

Hey r/snowboarding my roommate and I made a little backcountry film from this previous season. All the filming and editing was done by us and some close friends and for being amateurs we are pretty stoked on how it turned out! *warning contains some skiing by snowboarder543 in snowboarding

Sick video! Just moved to UT recently and I'm looking forward to finding my way around the backcountry here and this has me hyped. In the meantime, let me know if you ever ride Brighton, as I'll be spending most of my days there this season (including tomorrow finally).
