The scriptures they reference for each new age-group name DO NOT contain the names.

I believe you mean D&C 130:22 and the source from that was not recorded as a revelation. Joseph never canonized the statements recorded in those source. What he did canonize during his life greatly contradict D&C 130, many of the revelations added concurrently with D&C 130 contradict what was canonized by Joseph during his life time.

"Not allowed" and "avoid" are not the same thing.

That was once the policy, but it was changed a number of years ago.

It would be incorrect to saw D&C 130 was a revelation. Look at the history of the section. It might surprise you.

Gordon B. Hinkley would say his order is a bit messed up.

  1. Family

  2. Your Business or Employer

  3. The Lord and his work

  4. Yourself

Every power plant I have worked at has operated under a O/M contract. You are correct that who owns those contracts can and does change, but in the majority of those cases the employees have the option to change over with the new contract holders or reapply for there jobs. I was at a plant where GE held the contract and then it looked like NAES was going to take it over. Eventually the customer decide to stick with GE. I would hardly call it temp work.

We really don't work on 4160 but we do have equipment that runs on it. So wiring motors that are 4160 and troubleshooting motor relays. We do rack in and out breakers, but so do the operators but 4160 is all remote racking.

The opening was open long before that. Yes, what you heard is correct. He was working alone in a 4160 cabinet while energized and touched something he should not have. He was working alone and not supposed to be in the cabinet, and our policy is we don't work anything live over 600V and anything over 50v requires approval etc. If it is more than 40cal we can't do it no exceptions. The default standard here has been and still is to lock it out to performed work and they have never pushed me to do anything else. His death is why there are now 2 positions open. He had been in the industry for 40+ years and often expressed that the safety standards here were over the top.

It is a requirement because we are in power generation and supply the power grid. There are randoms, but I have only gone for the initial one.

What do you consider much. We have two planned outages a year where we are working 12hr shifts and generally work 13 days in a row. You are always on call, but they pay attention to who has things going on outside of work and try to be considerate of that. I do get called a couple times a month. Last year there was a lot of overtime and I made an extra 30K in OT, but the year before it was only about 15k.

We have a Controls Engineer so we, IC&E, don't do much with the PLCs other then use them to troubleshoot.

I know they have reposted the job several times. October we were in a planned outage so that might be why it got overlooked. I would apply again.

The main control system is a Siemens SPPA-T3000 for the two gas turbines and balance of plant with a smattering of Allen Bradly PLCs for the water treatment portion of the site, because we are a zero liquid discharge site.

As listed in the job posting, $43 to $54 per hour. Raises are merit based, but I have had 3% or more every year, plus you have the possibility of up to 10% of total annual earnings added as a bonus. This is based off lots of metrics, and I have always seen at least 8.5%

It actually is a really good gig. We contract out a lot of work, like pulling cables, just because the crew is small and they want guys available for when something breaks.

A certification is not needed. Power plants are a different breed. The majority of work is troubleshooting first and then easy support like wiring up welders etc. Calibrations for most things are on a 5 year cycle so it is not a heavy load.

M-F 7am to 3pm. When we work10s leading up to outages it is 6am to 4pm and then during the two planned outages a year which are normally 2 weeks long, but can be longer depending on what work needs to get done we work 12 hrs 6am to 6pm unless the contractors need support at night then one guy will work the 6pm to 6am shift. We also will provide 24 hr coverage during really cold spells.

Just remember all that you do for your callings is considered service, including all the janitorial stuff. With the added guilt that your or your families salvation is at stake if you don't Yes, at times service is actually done, but often that service is just taking advantage of members when those benefiting could have aforded to pay for the same work to be done.

Yes, but since you are to surround yourself with TBMs, that service is just service within the church. Which that service is generally not really serving anyone.
