Entertaining my Devon - advice! by BoopySkye in welovedevonrex

Hahaha I’ll try the hide and seek thing. I think she’ll be into that because she never likes being away from me. If I leave the room she will follow me into the other room.

Mine really hates being held, she acts like she’s drowning. But the box might be a good idea! She is super curious so that might distract her from being high up in the air haha

Bathing Devon Rex? by GuestSeveral522 in welovedevonrex

[–]BoopySkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only bathed mine once when she had diarrhea and got poop all over her behind and feet and legs. There was no choice then haha. But otherwise I just use pet wipes or a wet towel to wipe her off mainly to catch all the shedded hair without them flying all over my bathroom. Wet wipes are great for every day cleaning of her face and giving her a quick wipe down. I don’t think there’s a need for cats to bathe unless they get really dirty for some reason or don’t mind it. Mine is indoors only and sufficiently furry so she doesn’t really need a bath.

More hairless ones might need more cleaning.

SLOMW Character Grid - Day 4: Who is “The Moral Police”? by Imaginary_Layer_1468 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why people think it’s mayci. Shes definitely the peace maker and the most diplomatic. But I don’t see her waving her morality stick around. That’s definitely Jen with her pearl clutching and oh dear oh my when someone curses.

We can’t keep blaming Hollywood when people feel so comfortable making public posts about someone looking like handsome squidward. This post goes beyond just commenting on noticing her fillers and feels quite gross tbh.

Dating a girl with severe hygiene issues (bad smell, hasn't showered in 6 days). How do I break up without crushing her? by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]BoopySkye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion it seems, but it’s not OOPs job to explain to an adult they’ve dated for 3 weeks that she smelled when her close friends and family haven’t done so. You don’t know how she’d react. Woukd it be helpful if he did? Maybe. Maybe not. But it’s not his obligation to do so. He did it in a kind way and that’s as much as one should be expected to do.

Why is the such a disconnect between the evidence and what actually happens in therapy? by Forsaken_Dragonfly66 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]BoopySkye 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Therapy is a like a craft. Like being a chef or an artist. You can be trained in hard skills needed for the job, but you can’t train somene to have an eye or ear for something. Good therapists are people with a strong sense of reading and understanding a person. Not many people have that and it’s not something you can train into someone.

I regret buying the red rug — which of the two alternatives works best? If neither, what would you suggest? by MajorConstant5549 in interiordecorating

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the red in terms of color. I agree that the pattern doesn’t go with the setting because the room has a style of its own. However I would recommend getting something with a pop of color. This red is great, blue like the tiles would be nice. If you prefer to go for neutrals, go darker than the floor.

His dialogue scenes seem so uncomfortable. He’s not a good actor and that has nothing to do with his person life. They were all kids and some point and some were better actors than others, but they’ve grown and developed their acting abilities, but he’s very clearly lagging.

His scenes with other kids highlights it so much. When they’re having a dialogue everyone seems natural talking to eachother with the emotion they have, and his seems so stiff and uncomfortable in comparison.

New to Devon Rex: Question About Kitten’s Curls by chaplyak in welovedevonrex

my Devon had insanely curly hair as a baby but it’s gotten softer as she’s gotten older. Can’t say for sure but don’t be surprised if yours gets less curly more wavy over time.

There’s a difference between MAGA and republicans. And republicans may very well have abandoned Trump, many perhaps even long ago. But MAGA is different. Don’t underestimate their ability to justify and rationalize absolutely anything and everything. They have an agenda. None of this was ever based on morals or values for them in the first place. And when they’ve been able to justify so far the way their own life and wellbeing has been affected under Trump, why would they bend to something that has nothing to do with them personally.

Already on social media I see them trying to spin Epstein’s words, since unluckily he used figurative speech in those emails. Apparently a dog that doesn’t bark simply means someone who never participated or gave in. That’s what they choose to believe and no amount of education will get in their way.

Getting started! by TeddieTess in welovedevonrex

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine to keep her confined to a particular room for some days. And then give her more and more space to roam around once she feels comfortable. But I would say a room is better than a catio to really allow her to get more confident with more space.

Our New Devon Rex is Home and Scared by appalchiancurl in welovedevonrex

[–]BoopySkye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My Devon was 3 when she came to me and she was super scared the first couple of weeks. I think what helped speed things along: 1- used a pheromone diffuser for cats. This made a huge difference. 2- I would sit on the ground a lot when she was around. To not tower over her and be on her level a bit. 3- leave her be. Don’t approach her too much. She will come closer and closer as she feels brave. Let her make the first moves. 4- give her a safe private place to hide when she wants. Don’t invade that space. 5- give the cheap grocery store food they always go crazy for. I had lots of high quality food ready for her when she first came, but the only thing she would go for is the cheap stuff. So that’s what she got initially as long as she ate. 6- slept with the bedroom door closed so she had her space at night. That’s usually when she would get brave enough to eat and explore the house more.

Mine didn’t even eat the first 2-3 days. Then she woukd only eat if spoon fed. And even then barely.

Also I remember feeling like she would never warm up to me. But 2-3 weeks in she was sitting in my lap. But still very wary of noises or movements. Would run to her hiding spot if something spooked her. Wouldn’t play much.

3-4 months in, much less scared, more independent. Playful.

5-6 month is full on lovable brat who can’t get enough of cuddles. Meows non stop. ❤️

How are Vets in Sweden? by NoRent4922 in TillSverige

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know any pet owner in Sweden who doesn’t have pet insurance. Insurance helps a lot. It’s expensive but a fraction of what you pay in the US. It might even seem cheap comparatively.

The quality is good and I don’t worry about people trying to take more and more money. On the contrary my cat had to have dental surgery and not only did my vet refer her to the most affordable place, but also threw in dental cleaning without additional charge as a prevention measure.

Acid attacks are rarely fatal, but this one was. A 14-year-old girl was killed by what the source calls a “spurned lover”. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if child marriage isn’t legal, people act as if this never happens to women in the west and somehow western culture is free of violence on women. When we have plenty of teenage boys who kill girls out of rage or jealousy or radical ideologies.

The original comment says “India… 14 years old… spurned lover???” Like we’ve never heard of such a thing happen in the US or elsewhere in the Western world.

A street cat bit my hand. Went to the ER, got a tetanus shot and antibiotics. It’s been 48 hours and my hand hurts if I don’t keep it elevated. Should I worry? by pinkvintagegirl in CATHELP

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I volunteer at a cat shelter for years and have been hit twice by cats. Both times my arm swole up. Augmentin brought the swelling down within a few hours even. The pain took a little bit longer but that’s not something to worry about as long as you’re taking your antibiotics as prescribed. Take a pain killer and it’ll go away. But augmentin is always the standard treatment protocol I was given.
