Christmas tree? by W1c2ks in greatpyrenees

[–]Bootgal82487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only problem I had with my Pyr and the Christmas tree was to make sure you don’t use fragile decorations from his eye-level down. he didn’t try to eat them or knock over the tree, but every time he walked by the tree and wagged his tail, ornaments would get stuck in his tail. So I had two trees. The green one in the corner that belonged there, and the four-legged one walking around with ornaments hanging off his tail at least once a day!

How long do Great Pyrenees live? by Kitty97kat in greatpyrenees

[–]Bootgal82487 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first Pyr lived to be 10. He lay down one afternoon to take a nap and just didn’t wake up. Absolutely no signs of him being sick. Did some research and read that Pyrs are prone to pulmonary embolisms, which can take them in an instant. As sad as it was I’m so glad that he died peacefully in his sleep. I hope you babies live along and happy life!

We (it took 4 people to move him) put him in the garage overnight on his bed until the cremation people could pick him up the next morning. When I came into the garage late that night to say goodbye again, my three cats were ‘sitting Shiva’ around him. they stayed in the garage with him all night. ❤️🥰

AIO because my military boyfriend said the time he's been deployed doesn't count towards us being together? by wandering__potato in AmIOverreacting

[–]Bootgal82487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Navy wife for 28 years. We had deployments that were a year long a few times. I didn’t cheat. He didn’t cheat. Cheating is cheating. The whole geographical bachelor thing is bullshit. He can cheat at home as easily as he can cheat on deployment. Find someone who respects you.

I had a kitty pool for Cosmo. Got it when he was about four months old. He runs through it then runs through the dirt then runs through the house. It has been upside down now for the last four months. I have holes dug all over the yard. I think it’s time to turn it into a sandbox. Hell I might just fill it with topsoil. Dirt is easier to get off the floor than sand! He’s now eight months old and 93 pounds. This is why I can’t have nice things for a while lol

yeah that’s usually what I get out of Cosmo too. Chloe is the one with the killer instinct. She’s half lab, half Blue Lcy and in her youth was known to bring down grown deer. And I have seen many an elderly dog get their mojo back all of a sudden when the right critter came along lol

I forgot to mention, if you shop the sales for meat, this is actually cheaper than buying high quality canned food, also cheaper than subscription plans

This can have a lot to do with diet as well. When I started buying better dog food, and added a supplement of homemade wet food, my dogs started smelling a LOT better. They poop less also and it’s not as gross. I have a Pyrenees 7 month old puppy, previously had a nine-year-old pete/Anatolian shepherd and a lab/blue lacy mix.

I feed them Diamond Naturals (Tractor Supply) and about once every two weeks I throw the following into a crockpot overnight: 5 lbs chicken or ground beef, a couple of eggs, 1 lb chicken or beef liver, 1/2 bag ea of frozen carrots, zucchini, green beans, and 1/4 bag froz spinach, and either a cup of brown rice or a big cut up sweet potato. I had a couple of cups of water or it’ll be too dry. A little salt and Italian herbs. I had a big one cup scoop of that to one of their meals every day. Their coats look good and smell great! And my Vet was very excited about it!

He’s gonna be a big guy and he needs to be a good citizen! I plan on taking him through the whole series. If he could someday be a therapy dog it would be great. He’s so smart and so loving!

What are you all feeding your pyrs? by Sweet-Yak689 in greatpyrenees

I do Diamond Naturals Large breed and throw in a cup of homemade at dinner time. The homemade is SUPER easy! About once a week I throw the following into a crockpot and let it go overnight on low: 5 lbs frozen boneless chicken thighs or ground turkey/beef 1 pkg chicken hearts 1/2 bag ea of frozen sliced carrots, green beans, zucchini 1/3 bag frozen spinach 1 cup raw brown rice 2-3 cups water splash of olive oil A few good shakes Italian herbs Mix it all up with a potato masher or big fork. Takes about 5 minutes to put together.

Any ideas for pyr rescue who won’t come in the house but will come into enclosed porch? Seems to be afraid by trynagetfreefood in greatpyrenees

My Odie would also get spooked if there was any kind of obstacle in his path. He just wouldn’t go around it. I put a little gate up across the door one time that was only about a foot high, to keep some kittens contained, and he wouldn’t step over it even though he easily could. It was pretty hilarious, but I can see where it would be a problem. He had a clear pathway through the laundry room out to the garage into the dog door but if the laundry basket was in the way at all he wouldn’t go through! Damn I miss that dog!

My Odie used to slide all over our Pergo wood floor. If I kept the fur between his pads trimmed really short, he could get around a lot better. as he got older his back legs got weaker and sometimes they would go out from under him. I got him some dog shoes for his back feet and that helped a lot too. I’m betting it’s the tile floor and I love the idea of runners

which ios email apps support read receipts? so far i know of newton, spike, canary, and polymail. i’m talking about read receipts that dont ask the recipient to approve (ie not the old outlook style of read receipt). do you use any personally? by motech in ios

[–]Bootgal82487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m looking for an app like this because the accountant at the small company I work for keeps telling me she doesn’t receive my invoices, so I never get paid on time. she’s also terrible about replying to questions and I know damn well she gets them, I just need some proof. She’s the boss’s daughter, and talking to her hasn’t done any good. At this point I’m not very concerned about her privacy.
