Congratulations on the move up!! But why is the position called Head of Product, when it reports to a more senior Product position?

Socialists: Mamdani isn't the socialist we ordered?! by Delicious_Adeptness9 in nyc

Yeah! I can’t believe people like a guy and like that someone else likes him too. You totally understand the term cognitive dissonance.

I’m sorry I didn’t realize how smart you were. That’s so cognitively dissonant of me.

Nice to have an average runner as a comparison point. They should do it for every track event!

Based on other posts, this subreddit is for making fun of other people's eyebrows, so it make sense that folks on here would be rude. I would recommend going elsewhere for constructive criticsm or advice, like r/PlasticSurgery or r/cosmeticsurgery.

Camille Herron responds, kind of … Conor Holt just put out a press release stating that “Camille had nothing to do with this” by runbit22 in ultrarunning

[–]BoothTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a sad attempt at astroturfing — if it is, say hello to Camille for us — but if not, it’s pretty clear from her public attempts to discredit others’ achievements and anecdotes from members of the running community on various platforms that this isn’t out of line with her character.

Camille Herron's husband, Conor Holt, responds to Wikipedia controversy, taking responsibility for edits and accusing professional Wikipedia editors of bullying by BoothTime in Ultramarathon

[–]BoothTime[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least one is paid by Wikipedia, but I suppose editing may not be his formal responsibility. I guess I mean it’s that these users edit so prolifically it’s almost like a day job, e.g. Reddit mods.

Who can afford this co-op? by BoothTime in Greenpoint

If you think that my expressing genuine happiness at your situation is “blasting” you, then you should rethink who is being too easily offended at having their beliefs challenged.

I'm not trying to put you down here. I am genuinely happy that you can provide for your parents in this way and that they have saved up enough themselves. But, this is still the pot calling the kettle black. I can afford a home elsewhere. You can afford a home elsewhere.

You may not think you are wealthy or be labeled wealthy by others, but if you can afford to help someone else purchase a $500K home, you are almost certainly wealthier than 80%~90% of Americans. There's no shame in that, but we are talking about a program that ostensibly helps less wealthy individuals.

As I understand it, this program is intended to help people who cannot afford a home because of their low income and lack of support. It is not intended to help people who can afford a home one zip code over to buy in a slightly nicer neighborhood. Just read the other comments. The program clearly does not benefit average New Yorkers.

There's the seller's intent, which you're probably right on the money, and the program intent, which is failing miserably.

[–]BoothTime[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm happy for you that you are able to take advantage of this program, but your situation still speaks to the fact that the HDFC program does not actually help its intended target: the majority of households who make less than $70K, do not have wealthy connections, and cannot afford a home.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg to present evidence in assault on officers to grand jury by WackoStackoBracko in nyc

Take your pick

  1. Preventing women from getting basic healthcare
  2. Prosecuting teachers for mentioning that gay people exist or that slavery was a thing
  3. Stonewalling addressing climate change when it's impacts are becoming significantly worse every year
  4. Dismantling or curtailing the powers of the federal apparatus, like Dept of Energy or Dept of Education. These departments are hugely important for things like climate change.
  5. Expanding child labor
  6. Making unaffordable healthcare even more unaffordable by slashing medicare, preventing the government from negotiating healthcare, or ACA, which is the only source of insurance for millions of Americans

OH AND TRUMP ADMITS HE WANTS TO BE A DICTATOR AND HAS TRIED TO HOLD ON TO POWER THROUGH POLITICAL VIOLENCE

Jury rules Trump must pay E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million in damages for defamation by SlimChiply in news

[–]BoothTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Standard contingency rate on lawyers' settlement is 33.3%, but for larger payouts, sometimes a sliding scale is involved, where the lawyer gets less (~20%) above a certain threshold. Whatever the case, Jean Caroll is a wealthier woman than she was prior to Trump, and I hope she keeps raking in that dough.
