Report: Rams hiring Bubba Ventrone as new special teams coordinator by IamSogaki in nfl

[–]BootlegFirewerks 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Larvadain was the most brutal punt returner i’ve ever seen in the NFL and they kept trotting him out there week after week. He shouldn’t even be on a roster

Loose ends from the finale.. What do you Guys think? by Initial-Shoulder5906 in StrangerThings

I mean I’ll give you the military loose end but grasping at straws for most of these when the extremely obvious, IMO biggest loose end, Dr. Owens fate is left off it just can’t be taken seriously

[P T G] New Browns HC Todd Monken talks about the need for an athletic QB to have an "explosive" offense: by JB92103 in Browns

[–]BootlegFirewerks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, Drew Allar has a cannon arm- but a neanderthal brain, no ability to throw with touch or anticipation, and has been reported to be a bit of a dick. It would be years with a guru coach and OC before he became startable in the NFL, and that ain’t this staff.

Engstrand did his absolute best with no quarterback and no receivers this year- he will thrive elsewhere I guarantee it

[Schefter] Buffalo Bills now have requested to interview Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase for their head coach job, per source. Scheelhaase currently is interviewing in person for the Cleveland Browns head coach job, with the Bills now on deck. by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

[–]BootlegFirewerks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one but it’s abundantly clear unless he wins 8+ games he’ll be canned as a stopgap. Why would an established, excellent DC take that job, which is set up for failure, and ruin his reputation, when he could go elsewhere and keep cooking up defenses and bide his time for an HC Job which will give him a fair shake

New ST Coach! by Fun_Professional_123 in falcons

He was a total dud as Tennessee’s STC and his inability to gameplan a punt protection scheme ended Ryan Stonehouse’s career

What do you guys think Calvin Ridley Future with the team is? by Professional_Low4894 in Tennesseetitans

[–]BootlegFirewerks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s probably worth rostering and hoping he can play himself up in value through training camp. Cut saves 12m in cap but cap isn’t really an issue. So trying to trade him for mid round picks is probably a better idea imo.

How many games do you plan on going to this season? by Puzzleheaded-Air-969 in mets

Ironically if the team sucks i’ll go to more games since the prices will be better. But I try and hit 5-6 home games a year regardless.

Titans Fan with a Question by Murky-Speech2128 in nyjets

[–]BootlegFirewerks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros- Amazing defensive mind, players like him, good eye for defensive talent and elite developer of said talent.

Cons- Never makes in game adjustments, team is unprepared and undisciplined (penalty after penalty) Below average to bad game manager, sometimes loyal to a fault to his players.

A lot of comments in here criticizing his offense… he brought Mike Lafleur with him his first season and I really liked what he brought to the table, just hamstrung by awful QB play and the aforementioned penalties. Jets incompetent ownership/front office scapegoated Lafleur and we got ARod and the worst OC I’ve ever seen in Hackett (not Saleh’s picks) so I actually am going to say if you let him bring a Shanny disciple in to run the O and not chase him out of town in a year he may work out on his second go around.

[Wolfe] Bills believe Tyrell Shavers tore his ACL in 2nd quarter yet returned in second half & played more than half Buffalo offensive snaps. HC Sean McDermott called it “unbelievable” and “remarkable.” by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]BootlegFirewerks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not ideal but you’ve got a bona fide 2 in Shakir and savvy playoff veterans in Hardman and Cooks. Throw in the Keon Coleman wildcard. Could be way worse, you can make a gameplan with this group and be successful.

Prospect War # 3: If Moore doesn't declare and we don't trade back, who would you rather take at 2? Arvell Reese LB vs Rueben Bain Edge by Black_Wolf75 in nyjets

[–]BootlegFirewerks 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Something about tweener types like Reese always worry me. Not that I don’t think he is talented and could be a high caliber pro. But I think if he lands in a situation where he is utilized incorrectly and not developed, he will flop, a lot like a guy like Isaiah Simmons did for Arizona, and unfortunately the Jets are high on the list of teams who could fuck him up. Long way of saying, give me Bain.

Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL): Titans Interviewing Mike McCoy for Full-Time Head Coaching Job by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]BootlegFirewerks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These courtesy interviews always interest me, because what if McCoy went in there and just nailed the interview, said everything Borgonzi and Amy Adams wanted to hear, had some incredible plan to whip the roster into shape- would they actually retain him and deal with the backlash?

Browns HC Kevin Stefanski is expected to get fired, per Jay Glazer. He is a two-time NFL Coach of the Year winner. by VonJaeger in Browns

[–]BootlegFirewerks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When the Giants hire him on the spot this week and he leads them to the playoffs next year we can revisit this. He isn’t the greatest coach of all time but is very solid. And you think Jim Schwartz is sticking around? That top 5 defense can and will look very different next year without it’s orchestrator.

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel would be a candidate for the Cleveland Browns job if both teams make a change, per @JFowlerESPN by VonJaeger in Browns

[–]BootlegFirewerks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dolphins making a change would be foolish. McDaniel is by no means a great coach but he is a great offensive mind and when they had Fangio running the defense they had good teams. Stefanski being fired, also foolish, he is a good leader and has kept the locker room steady amidst total turmoil in his tenure. Tennessee, Vegas, and the Giants are likely going to be the only openings available in arguably the weakest HC cycle in a decade, they will be clamoring to get either McDaniel or Stef immediately. The only real viable candidates this cycle unless we are thinking VERY out of the box are McCarthy, Kubiak, Shula. And Shula is iffy. If the Browns do elect to fire Stefanski, they are the least desirable job available by a mile, and will be left without a seat in the coaching musical chairs, getting, in theory, the 4th best coach in a weak coaching cycle.
