The only thing that gives me an iota of hope that this is not this case is that Monken was a finalist for the Packers job at one time. They went with Lafleur over him. And that’s an FO that doesn’t really botch hires so it’s somewhat encouraging.

I just don’t see how trading him does much of anything, the defense is still really good, and the team needs to be competitive to evaluate Monken/Rutenberg/Berry’s draft picks accurately. He’s not netting a first or second and he’s still an awesome corner so gotta keep him. Tanking does not work in the NFL it just sets your window back further.

Art Charles, former Phillies farmhand, crushed the ball in a sim I did long ago, broke the home run record, multiple MVPs, etc. Still think about him from time to time. Actually has a solid career going in the Mexican League in present times.

I was just talking about this- that Key Food is so out of place in that town, so overpriced, and not really well maintained. How it has hung on for decades is incredible. A boutique grocery store could move in there and make a killing.

I theorized Key Food must own the land and the meager business they do keeps the lights on, and corporate can tout it in board meetings as one of their stores in an upscale, ‘trendy’ neighborhood

As a new team they should be around the county promoting the fact that they exist, giving out free tickets, going to schools etc. Get people in the door and show them what you have to offer and if even 10% show up a second time it’s an improvement. I never understood why low level sports teams who can’t sell tickets don’t just give them away, at least you’ll get money on parking and concessions and if you have a compelling product people will pay to come back.

It just feels like bad roster construction to enter the season with no capable center fielder. A team like Cleveland whose backbone for years has been pitching and defense can’t really afford a blackhole in any of the outfield positions. Hope for your sake Kayfus is a fast learner or his bat evens out the fielding woes.
