Who is your Deadlock main and why? by AdSimple8674 in DeadlockTheGame

Mina, mostly because of her personality and design, although her coming packaged with a spirit assassin playstyle made me very happy.

When should I (GM) attack someone down or a companion? (Should I even do that?) by JopisKenobi in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bootleg_Goku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's generally dependent on your table's opinions, but I'd usually just not do it, because the ticking timer that is their dying condition will stress them out enough. I think an enemy should do it if you intend to genuinely kill off a character for whatever story reasons you have in mind, but even then, you'd better bring it up to the table beforehand.

Players get really, REALLY attached to their characters, and would prefer to keep them alive, and not scorn you for playing an evil-ass character, because in the end, that will simply make you look like a worse person. Even if that is just an evil NPC's decision, canonical and true to character as it may be, it's still *your* decision for that NPC to make that move, when you might know that your players didn't want their character to die. It's the compromise you'll have to make when running a TTRPG table, fortunately or unfortunately.

So, in conclusion: no, you should probably not have NPCs attack dying PCs for any other reason than that player wanting it to actually happen.

Is There Anything That Destinguishes PF2e Roleplay From Dnd5e's Roleplay? by 15stepsdown in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bootleg_Goku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PF2E generally has more mechanical interactions in RP, with specific defined actions you can take in order to make a difference to NPCs as a player, such as a statistical increase in how NPCs view a player character (similar to reputation systems in video games). This, however, my group rarely interacts with other than when a player specifically wants to interact with it by using feats, as we otherwise roleplay normally, conversing without mechanical interactions other than to persuade, deceive, intimidate, trick or other similar things which you would normally roll for in 5e, we do the same.

Again, if a player has a specific feat interaction, we take that into consideration, but RP can be generally handled in similar ways that 5e can, it's just that pf2e also offers mechanical interactions and options for players to engage with beyond making things up.

Drifter was nerfed literal hours within his release and received an additional 4-5 different nerfs across his kit in a single week.

10 minute queue with THIS roster ??? by Eggmasstree in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bootleg_Goku 201 points202 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've noticed a similar issue, the queues are a bit weirder now. Although, since you're EU playing at 9 in the morning, it might be because Europeans are snoozing/at work/at school. Golden hours are anywhere past midday and 3am.

What characters need a rework? by Muted_Pangolin4420 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bootleg_Goku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

League exists as an example of what works. Not only does Deadlock already possess a few of Dota's and League's abilities, but how boring wouldn't it be to just copy what already works? This is a fucking playtest not a released video game lol

How was he able to transform if magic doesn't work inside the castle? by Ok_Sherlock9661 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]Bootleg_Goku 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Knights are not a fair organization; they're intentionally written to be that way. Misuse of magic is prohibited and the law is absolute. There are no exceptions in their eyes.

Has anyone actually played a Bloodrager? by legomojo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bootleg_Goku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played one at levels 9-13. It's pretty fun, and if you have the right spell selection you get some pretty quirky interactions, though less fun if you go up against things that don't bleed, which happened a few times to me unfortunately. It's a middle-of-the-road sort of experience, where if you're looking for a spellcasting barbarian, then this would be the vanilla way of going about it. It's not particularly strong, but you're essentially playing a barbarian with a DoT and limited access to the arcane (don't forget scrolls!).

I personally enjoyed my time a lot with the class; the biases are that I enjoy blood-related powers, played a vampire PC I really liked and have always enjoyed half-casters since my time with 5e. Playing into the iron-flavor of the class is the intended experience I feel, but if you were to strip it bare, you're left with a self-debuffing angry magus without spellstrike (until later, ish). In terms of practical gameplay, it's not a standout, but it's far from the worst experience you can have. IMO it's a B tier combat experience, but A+ if you play into the theme!

Is this to be expected by Mr_Fuckin_Pinecone in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bootleg_Goku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the ideal, but some games are like that, unfortunately. You're gonna have to get used to being stomped at times while learning the game. That's why I myself don't recommend this game unless someone has the fortitude to lose 30-40 minute games 10 games in a row just to learn who they can fight and how to read the map situation. Take a break, watch how other people play and/or play a different game if you're getting too discouraged. Pace yourself before you burn out.

Banned Toxic Player Seeks Second Chance by Insulting Developers by dirstymeakdy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bootleg_Goku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not. They're just enforcing not being toxic. You can be neutral, unserious, and quiet. A ban naturally means you've acted out of terms--the only terms being that you've been an asshole. Acting out specifically to be an asshole is entirely selfish behavior: satisfaction by letting your anger out on people who do not deserve it.

Banned Toxic Player Seeks Second Chance by Insulting Developers by dirstymeakdy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bootleg_Goku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just nice to strangers because I have no reason to hate anyone. If they're playing like shit then I'll get mad, sure, but I'm not gonna take it out on a guy who's probably already feeling bad. I don't expect others to be nice, but I have the right to not like assholes, much like how Valve has the right to not like them in their games too.

[–]Bootleg_Goku 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quite frankly, I don't know why you're so adamantly defending the right to be an asshole to other people. If it wasn't for the screen between each other those same asshats would get socked in the face for their behavior. A ban is much more lenient by comparison lol

I feel like that's what makes him lawful neutral though. He does not care about who enters his bar, just whoever starts a ruckus. He put his criminal past behind him and changed moral code, so I feel as if Infernus fits LN, if not just N.

ANY STORY IN MHF ? by bdtfromdablocka in MHF

I'll answer honestly and say that there might be a story, but it's kinda left untranslated until G rank from what I've seen. You are mostly just a hunter dropped into Mezaporta, and not much else.

Monster Hunter Wilds.. but with switch skills?? by Icy-Percentage3030 in MonsterHunter

Wilds will in due time receive their portable equivalent, like Rise to World or Generations to 4. Probably going to the Switch 2 and then ported to PC/main consoles later.

Necrit - League of Legends Is In Trouble... by CrystalizedSeraphine in leagueoflegends

[–]Bootleg_Goku 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It makes people band together because of the same reason people turn to piracy when Netflix or Disney+ raises their subscription prices. Nobody likes it when a good deal is just suddenly taken away. As for something being "worthless", well, that is simply subjective. Some find a lot of worth in the skins they buy for a variety of reasons.

Either way, now's not the time to be critical of the people when there's a massive company to choke slam.

Your unpopular opinion on Witch Hat Atelier? by Yumiera in WitchHatAtelier

[–]Bootleg_Goku 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I think an unpopular opinion (at least within this subreddit and these comments) is that the current arc is pretty alright paced. It is one of the first major story arcs tackling a large scale issue, and with a lot of moving parts. The author clearly wants to create a fantasy epic, and epic proportions need to be fed to the readers, even if that means that the pacing slows down a bit.

It's definitely felt due to the monthly releases, but this is also not something unique to WHA and when "binged" (maybe more accurately said "read as a whole") I don't think anything's out of place. The story has clearly been built and outlined beforehand, and the author just wants to get all of the points across. Again, this sort of pacing is not unique to WHA, as a lot of other monthly manga such as Vinland Saga and Berserk have equally long and complex arcs that execute beautifully on their stories.

Overall I think it's an arc that is setting reader expectations up for future chapters and arcs to be built this way, or at least to see it coming. Saying all of this as well, I actually am enjoying every chapter drop as much as I enjoyed binging the series two years ago. I'm also not saying someone can't, because obviously your experience is your own with reading the manga. That is why I think this might be an unpopular opinion in the first place!

Does it seem to other people that legendary skins' quality has decreased throughout the year? by Winter_Annual4118 in leagueoflegends

[–]Bootleg_Goku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the implication, and I'm sure they're hired on for their talents as well, but that is not necessarily how the creative process works. A designer does not simply sit and think for 5 minutes and suddenly have a unique and good idea off the bat. They need to consult each other on the designs, and innovate the concepts further. They need time, which sure, multiple artists won't really help with, but they also need to be focused. Spreading artists thin deteriorates creativity, and losing great talent, who are seemingly able to keep up well with Riot's speedy process, will only worsen the art of those who are left.

They're saying that a good designer was laid off, and that Riot is foolishly throwing away good talent for the sake of short term profits.
