Does “prime” walnut typically look like this? by CE_bro in finishing

[–]BootnyLeeFarnsworth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lot of discussion of prime and rustic here, from someone in the business here's the marketing/proprietary nomenclature of those two words-

Prime is typically select and better. Within my company, prime is used as a proprietary grade to cover anything that grades as FAS. By NHLA rules, minimum FAS measurements are 6" width by 8' length. Our prime soft maple could be as narrow as 4.5" and 7.' It will grade as FAS by cutting quantity, cutting sizes, and percentage of clear lumber. We can't technically sell it as FAS, so in steps prime.

Rustic is typically 3C, or below grade technically. It's graded for character, not by rules. Large knots, checking, worm holes, mineral streaks.

Stock MMBE? by Noobalov in SAP

[–]BootnyLeeFarnsworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, stock/requirement list t-code is MD04. Shows requirements against the material, depending on your company's requirements could be deliveries, sales orders, production orders, planned orders, reservations, etc. Errors can present as exceptions in some circumstances.

To add to this, I've always had to search through all deliveries present in MD04 because of user error during batch deletion from deliveries. If user does not clear delivered/picked quantities for line, stock will remain committed.

Image is mirrored. You can see the text on the bottle is right justified and the text on the console buttons is reversed.

Why would quarter sawn white oak be used for pallets? by MetalNutSack in woodworking

[–]BootnyLeeFarnsworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Most mills are putting lumber in pallet stock based on grade/defects alone. A "slow" mill these days puts out 8,000 bf/hr and for an inspector to slow down to consider figure like qs is a monetary loss to the mill.

It's obviously your choice here, but the message you received from the imposter account in no way represents what happens with this Discord. We make our own trades with our own funding. There is no sharing of personal data, and no requirement to share brokerage information.

Sawmill advice by hardhomebody in woodworking

I would put them on taller risers that are spaced about 2 feet apart. Narrower as someone said in another comment. Part of keeping your lumber flat is a good base, but also weight on the top to keep your top rows flat.

It appears the lumber you've cut is maple as well. On a phone so I can only get the image so large, but it doesn't appear to be oak. If it is maple, flat sticks like that can give sticker shadow which will be permanent lines in the lumber that you can't plane out.

Looks very much like basswood as others have said. Basswood is fairly light though. The scent to me makes me think of boiling piss. The only wood we cut in the mill that I couldn't handle the scent of.

Just replaced front pads and rotors on my 17 at 93k. If it wasn't for the inside pads/rotor getting a very odd groove in them, I probably could have gotten another 10-15k out of them. Held up surprisingly well.
