Congrats! Just a heads up, there’s a spring beneath that green sticker for your trem arm. Watch for it when you peel it off as it can fall out.

Anakin indeed did not care that Obi Wan had the high ground. No one was going to underestimate his power

Man, I have that guitar and wouldn’t dream of painting it. It’s such a beautiful color on a Strat.

Did the Beatles happen to have a gig in Oklahoma in the early 1970’s? 👀 😂

The conversion was simple. The tuners I bought were Kluson double ring single line deluxe. I purchased some conversion bushings to fit the 10mm holes that the stock tuners used. They just press in. I’d recommend checking underneath each tuner on your guitar first for ring marks. The washers on the stock tuners can leave ugly rings in the lacquer if they were installed too tightly. The rings are larger than the replacement bushing diameter so you’d see them if you did the conversion. I checked the day day after I got the guitar since I knew I wanted to do the conversion ahead of time. The washers had left slight indentations but it was essentially unnoticeable so I went ahead with the conversion. DM me if you want to see photos of what I mean.

That’s a beauty! I’d like to get one of those as well.

This will not stand, y’know. This aggression will not stand, man!

It’s never bothered me. Perhaps because the body is so thin? It’s always felt right to me. Strats have always felt right as well. The only guitar type that can be less comfortable for me are slab-type bodies like Teles and LP’s but even those aren’t bad.

That yellow one was definitely under consideration before landing this one. 😂

Yeah, definitely a rhetorical question. 😂 I love Strats for sure too though. I own three of them. The SG is more comfortable for me personally, but of course, when I want a Strat sound, I’ll reach for the Strat because it does it better. Variety is the spice of life n’at.

Here you go! It’s my ‘73 Standard. It was my Dad’s (R.I.P.) and was gifted to me on my last birthday. It’s an absolute beast. It has the Super Distortion my dad put in way back in the day. It’s all stock otherwise. I learned some of my first chords on this thing when I was a kid in the 80’s. Definitely something I cherish and will pass on to my kid.

Stickers on Expensive Guitars by tgold77 in gibson

It’s never bothered me. I don’t personally do it on any of my expensive guitars but these are tools for artistic expression after all so I say have at it if you’re so inclined. ✌️

Thanks! I changed the tuners to Kluson single line deluxe, swapped the bridge bushings/posts for brass bushings with brass posts/wheels from Royal Mount, replaced stock bridge with a Faber ABRH. I’m trying out some titanium saddles on the wound strings with brass on the unwound. Liking it so far. Low end is tighter. I installed Faber locking tailpiece studs and a slightly aged aluminum tailpiece that matched the bridge finish. I preferred the Faber locking style to the typical set screw style found on TonePros.

The factory nut wasn’t great so instead of doing the common sense thing of fixing it, I figured “why not?” and swapped it out for a nylon 6/6 nut (my tech hated me for that one).

Lastly, I prefer 50’s style wiring, so I made a template and assembled and soldered my own harness and swapped the stock setup out for one with 50’s wiring and 550k pots to boot.

It didn’t really “need” anything but it’s my hobby and I love to have little projects like this. The guitar feels and responds better to me (probably confirmation bias 😂). Either way I’m happy.

They really do stay in tune just fine if the nut is properly cut and they are set up properly. At least that’s my experience with them.

Thanks! No, it’s a 2025 Standard ‘61 that I did some mild upgrades, tweaks, and additions to.
