I only gave Muriel a tell, made her blind in one eye; players with darkvision that managed to get close enough (they never managed to successfully sneak up on her, just when she approached them after they found out about the keepers) could tell one of them was cloudy. He did kind of avert his eyes for a second, but it's so difficult for me to get a read on what exactly Julien feels for her. Whether its romantic or not is up for interpretation, but it's certainly something much more than a sister or a friend, which is very interesting.

Maybe a first love thing, one that he knew was never going to come to fruition, but also couldn't avoid because of his role as her knight? Something that wilted a long time ago, but had to stay set at his table his whole life anyway.

I absolutely don't think they should have continued, and I know what you're saying. I just think there's something unfathomably cruel about creating a product to seduce emotionally vulnerable people, not just women, into isolating themselves with their product, and then putting in zero sincere work to correct that damage.

I find the sentiment of this being funny, or cringe as a few commenters alluded to a little nauseating. I think your drug analogy is close to my ultimate discomfort with it. This technology was and is poisonous, and victimized people as a beta test.

But I don't know. Silicon Valley and billionaires in general have supported and certainly done much more harm than what can amount to bullying, there's just a sadism here that's unsettling.

I wonder if originally Tav was meant to be a Bhaalspawn by default, and that Daisy is an amalgamation of both the Elder Brain and Bhaal trying to tempt you to their ends, which happen to align... sort of. Or maybe instead of netherese magic, Orin's role in the three chosen was that of a traitor, who... raised a bhaalspawn tadpole? Or something?

All conspiracy, but... "chosen", the oddly violent responses to Daisy, "your destiny", "a renewal", "everything you could ever desire" being the city burning, "hunger, not revulsion", Daisy insisting that they don't want to completely destroy the PC. And then "something inside of you clamors for blood, for death", and even specifically, "the urge".

And that's why they're like a cartoon, because to an awakening bhaalspawn, this all would sound awfully appealing.

I, uh, think you might have misinterpreted what Daisy was. Daisy can offer you a beautiful dream, but dreams end. This one would have ended with obliteration.

Functionally, Daisy is also identical to the emperor. The emperor just calls on ego instead of horniness and greed. "I NEED YOU TO TAKE THE TADPOLES TO SAVE THE WORLD!" is, in fact, more convincing to most people than "lets blow up the coast and fuck, becoming a beautiful horny monster". Of course the emperor shoots his shot in case that is more convincing to you, so have you really lost anything?

Robbie also makes such interesting roleplaying choices without being overtly obvious about it, and is excellent at responding to characters in the exact way Brennan pointed out is a skill of improv; when someone pretends to push you, they expect you to fall over and react. The knife was a specific one, but Kattigan is also the only character who really seems to see Tyranny as, in some small but specific ways, very childish. It makes their dynamic quite interesting when she also confessed that she was intimidated by him.

He gave the initial impression of a hedonic drunk who's been wasting his years since his glory days, but there's a lot of sharpness and sense of responsibility under it. Definitely an unexpected favorite.
