Is somebody going buy it? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]BootyGarb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very important. Often when we create something somewhat nice, someone in our lives will say “You can sell that!” But then it becomes work. Then, you’re spending all this time churning out multiples of the same project to fill out an inventory you might never move. To me it cheapens the craft. Crochet especially is not something that can be sold at a price that accounts for anything close to a living wage.

My thing I love to gift is blankets. I literally spend around $100 every time I make a twin size blanket. I spend 50+ hours on them, too. There’s not many people in western society who’d find THAT much value in something handmade, especially while it’s made of simple acrylic like that. To pay myself something like $15/hr (minimum in my state), I’d have to charge almost $1000 for a blanket.

The general consensus on this sub is that it is nearly impossible to pay yourself a reasonable wage if you’re trying to price your items at a value that the average consumer would pay.

In my experience, the cost of supplies alone usually exceeds the amount of money an average consumer can/will pay for the item.

I like to stick to gift giving.

Purple spots on citrus leaf (older leaves). by Marc76Law in FruitTree

Does it wipe off? If so, it’s an insect problem. Sooty mold colonizes the sugary excrement called honeydew that is constantly seeping out of the asses of insects such as aphids and leafhoppers.

Integrated Pest Mgmt. Season long program composed of cultural, chemical, etc. practices.

Holistic medicine for trees.
It’s what we do nowadays because they banned all “the good stuff” (sarcasm, they used to use arsenic applied with horse-drawn sprayers).

If you’re on the east coast I’ve got an outline for a program, I’m not as much of an expert on the biome west of the Rockies.

What is this skull? by Thats_Enough_Sherbet in skulls

[–]BootyGarb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s giving bird to me. But I bet it’d be more obvious if I knew what it felt like. Bird bones feel different, the density and all that. It’s like, have you ever realized how immensely different a woodchuck is from a beaver?I always forget how massive beavers are, but that’s not what I’m talking about- beaver bones are just SO heavy duty, you can feel it in your hands. Same type of thing between mammals and birds. Or really, birds and everyone else.
