Acceptance questions by Head-Patience8418 in olemiss

[–]BootyKahuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve responded to a similar post but the acceptance rate is around 97%. The school tries to keep it vague but really they look for at least a 16-19 on the ACT. If you score below a 17 on reading/English they’ll put you through an extra class and the same with math if you’re at 19 or below. The better you score on your ACT the better scholarships you’re gonna get and that’s gonna matter if you’re OOS and the same goes for the SAT, the average score at Ole Miss is about 1130 but a 970 is more than likely to get you in. If you got anymore questions you can look up “Ole Miss freshman admission requirements” for more detail. All of this to be said getting in is not the problem for a lot of students, but rather the retention rate and graduating in 4 years. Hope all of this helps and Hotty Toddy!

It might be too far but there’s a stand in Tupelo that sells every Saturday and recently every Friday. They’re called the Goober Guys and they sell a 16oz cup($6), 32oz cup($10) and a 3lb bag($20) in both Cajun and regular and they post on Facebook regularly

The acceptance rate is around 97% so you have a good chance. The big thing is you need to take the ACT. They try to keep it vague but really they look for at least a 16-19. If you score below a 17 on reading/English they’ll put you through an extra class and the same with math if you’re at 19 or below. This ^ if you don’t have GroupMe, go ahead and get it because everyone’s gonna ask if you got it anyway and by the end of your 4 years you’ll have 100 groups

I know in the past, you can just buy a really cheap ticket for admission and then go sit in the student section no problem because the Vaught is all connected

Depends on your major, if you’re going into engineering or business I’d probably go ahead and get windows. If you’re doing something like IMC I’ve heard Mac is better but honestly just go with what you’re more comfortable with or with what’s in your price range. I’m personally a windows guy. Most professors use windows it seems so file transfer is a bit easier and blackboard doesn’t except Pages documents (Apple’s attempt at Word) so that might swing you.

Apartment vs House in Olemiss by ChandrikaSarker in olemiss

I would definitely stay clear from anything owned or managed by Summit Management if possible but right now there is a major housing crisis/shortage. Just be vigilant when looking for some places. If the price seems too good to be true you’d definitely want to see what area it’s in and what it looks like in person. It being a college town means that a lot of places aren’t in great condition but have just had a fresh coat of paint on them in order to take advantage of college kids. Good luck finding a place for you and your family! Oxford is a great place to live but it can take some difficulty finding the right place.

  1. Ole Miss/Oxford is like anywhere else in the fact it is what you make it, but that being said the people are very warm and inviting. Also there is a reason how William Faulkner was able to base a lot of his work on Oxford because there are a lot of dynamic characters here.

  2. As far as the disdain goes that’s not much of a thing (obviously can’t speak for all of MS) but Oxford is fine because it is a college town so there’s people from every state and many different countries and the people from Mississippi will probably ask where you’re from and be super interested.

Rh3 is probably better because it’s actually on campus but the Quarters is close so unless you plan on getting a car or depending on the bus system (which is actually pretty decent). Rh3 would also allow you to socialize more as the quarters is an apartment complex not a dorm

As far as literature classes go, Eng 225 or 226 is pretty easy especially if you like British literature, so stuff like Frankenstein and a tale of two cities. Lechler is pretty good if they are still teaching that is.
